~Luca's POV
I stood frozen, my heart hammering in my chest as the woman turned and walked away. My eyes followed her until she disappeared through the store's exit, and only then did I realize I had been holding my breath.
Damn.
It felt like I had been hit by a freight train. My mind raced, trying to process what had just happened. I had seen countless beautiful women before, but none had ever stopped me in my tracks like this. None had ever made my wolf stir with such intensity. And she was human.
The sound of someone clearing their throat snapped me back to reality. I blinked, turning to see the cashier staring at me expectantly.
"Sir?" he prompted.
Shit. I had completely forgotten where I was.
"Right," I muttered, reaching into my pocket for my wallet. I slid my card across the counter, my fingers still slightly unsteady.
