~Micheal's POV
I forced myself to sleep and woke up early the next day. The morning light filtered through the blinds, casting a soft glow over the sterile white walls of the hospital room. I rushed to Mia's room to see how she was doing. I pushed the door open slowly, my eyes immediately finding her still form on the bed. She looked peaceful in her sleep, her chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm. I couldn't help but smile to myself.
I pulled the chair closer to the bed and sat down, my stethoscope draped around my neck. The sound of the faint beeping from the machines around her filled the room, a reminder that I still needed to stay on top of things. I adjusted her blankets and checked the monitors to ensure everything was still in place. Her vitals were stable, steady even. That was a relief.
It was the moment I'd been waiting for, the moment when she would wake up.
