Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Is it being hypocritical?

"Happy Seventh Night Festival."

"Oh, happy Seventh Night Festival." Lu Xingzhi remained utterly innocent and naive throughout.

Huo Jincheng suddenly reached out and pinched her little face twice.

Withdrawing his hand, he cleared his throat awkwardly, "It's late, you should rest! Goodnight!"

"Oh!" Lu Xingzhi nodded, somewhat absent-minded. As she was about to turn around, her foot slipped again.

Closing her eyes in anticipation of the floor, she instead fell into a solid embrace.

Huo Jincheng held Lu Xingzhi, and because she had taken a bath, his nose was filled with the sweet grapefruit fragrance of her hair, which seemed to carry the same scent from her body.

Feeling a unique softness in the palm of his right hand, he realized where he had touched. His heart suddenly skipped a beat, and with raised eyebrows and downcast eyes, he teased, "Was that on purpose?"

"I didn't do it on purpose!" Lu Xingzhi's face turned as crimson as the morning sky, and she pushed him away, suddenly crying out in pain as her hair somehow got tangled in the buttons of his black shirt.

It was truly both awkward and dramatic.

"Heh... What kind of move is this? So were you just being contradictory?" Even when Huo Jincheng uttered such teasing words, he did so with a noble elegance.

He leisurely untangled Lu Xingzhi's hair, wrapping a strand around his finger before letting it go, playing with it for a while.

His fingers were slender and fair, like a perfect work of art.

Lu Xingzhi's little face was burning red, and it seemed as if her hair had gently grazed his fingers.

This sensation was truly too awful.

No wonder he thought she did it on purpose.

His face, resembling both a demon and an immortal, was flawless, as if that's not enough, he was wealthy too. Who knows how many women wished to throw themselves at him!

Although she was a face enthusiast, the lofty allure of Huo Jincheng was like Mount Everest, and she naturally dared not aspire to him.

He was like a poisonous flower, beautiful sure, but it's best not to pick it, lest it be one's downfall.

Huo Jincheng released her hair and unabashedly gave her an appraisal.

Her seaweed-like hair hung loosely around her waist, her fair little face blushing with a tint of red, and her doe-like eyes were misty, with the teardrop mole at the corner adding an extra layer of endearing fragility.

In addition, her petite stature inexplicably aroused a protective instinct in people, alongside a desire to tease her.

This little girl really was quite pretty, just too skinny.

That was the conclusion he reached from holding her twice.

However, the face felt nice, and the waist too.

Other places were quite intriguing.

After Lu Xingzhi returned to her room, it took quite a while for her to regain her senses.

Looking at the shopping bag, it was Huo Jincheng's birthday gift to her.

Driven by curiosity, she slowly opened it.

A pink crystal hair clip appeared before Lu Xingzhi's eyes.

The clip was shaped like a little deer, which Huo Jincheng had chosen because it reminded him of Lu Xingzhi's name.

Securing the clip in her hair and gazing in the mirror, Lu Xingzhi beamed a sweet smile, finding it quite pretty.

After a whole night of rain, it finally stopped by the next morning.

When Lu Xingzhi got up and opened the door, Huo Jincheng was already sitting in the living room.

Waking up to such a strikingly beautiful man truly tested her composure!
