CHAPTER 13
The half moon was shining faintly as a man wearing dark sunglasses and a black suit used a military grade pair of binoculars to observe a certain warehouse from a distance.
"It has been a month since that girl went into this warehouse, and she hasn't come out. I'm not surprised if she's dead by now, but Young Master won't stop asking about her," Arthur thought grimly.
"Yet more and more people have been coming into this warehouse, and none of them have come out. Are they using them as slaves or workers?" Arthur thought as he lowered the binoculars and started munching on a burger he had ordered not too long ago.
"I really need to take a shower," Arthur mumbled to himself while still jotting down everything he had observed about the warehouse and the soldiers guarding it.
Then something strange happened.
Multiple gunshots rang out from inside the warehouse. Arthur immediately grabbed his binoculars, switched to the night vision mode, and looked toward the warehouse. He saw multiple people running through the doors and attacking the soldiers. Some of them were wearing lab coats, while others looked like the civilians he had seen entering the warehouse.
The strangest sight, the one that made his skin crawl, was that even though they were being shot by the soldiers, they weren't dying. It didn't even look like they were thinking or feeling pain. They bit into the soldiers' necks, attacking them like wild animals and feasting on their flesh. Some of the people tore through the metal gate with their bare hands, while others climbed over it.
Seeing this, Arthur immediately started the car and floored the gas. As he sped away, something slammed into the car, causing it to sway violently. He looked through the window and saw a yellow eyed lady with blood on her clothes staring straight at him, even though the glass was tinted.
He floored the gas again and quickly pulled a pistol out of the car's safe. He drove at an insane speed, but somehow the yellow eyed lady kept up with him. Eventually, he lost her.
"I need to get out of here, but first I need to get the Young Master. Just what did these rich bastards do?" Arthur thought with anger and fear.
---
"And that's what happened," Arthur said as he drove through a traffic light that clearly displayed red.
"You're kidding, right?" Jake said.
"Look, I don't know what you're thinking, trying to scare me with that bull crap story of yours, but do I have to remind you I'm not a child anymore? I'm a sub adult," Jake said playfully before his eyes landed on the gun next to the driver's seat.
He could feel his heart skip a beat.
"I saw a dent on the car on my way in, but I didn't really look into it. Either Arthur has all of this planned out, or this... this..."
He couldn't bring himself to believe that a zombie apocalypse was about to happen.
"What about Xia? Were you able to see her?" Jake asked with a concerned expression.
"I'm sorry, Boss, but I couldn't see her," Arthur answered soberly, looking at Jake's reaction through the mirror.
"I'm sorry to ruin your mood, but she's either dead or she's one of those things," Arthur said, not wanting to lie to the Young Master.
"Well, thanks, Arthur. I feel so much better now," Jake said before folding his arms.
"Dad, just what did you and those elites do? You said you would become a god. Is this what you meant? Are you planning on finding some sort of cure and giving it to the government to earn the appraisal of a god, or isn't this your plan?" Jake thought as his blood started to boil with anger, though a deep fear still lingered within him.
