Chapter 237 - Chapter 237: Sovereign Attack

With the help of magic, Sebastian could clearly sense that the other person was not lying to him.

In fact when facing a terrifying existence like Ego the Living Planet, Old Nine really had no need to lie. This was because under normal circumstances no one would choose to cause trouble for Ego. The planets near Ego often contained precious resources or materials that Ego had collected over the years. Vibranium was just one of many valuable materials there.

After getting the information he wanted, Sebastian did not stay for long. He returned the vibranium sample in the box back to Old Nine. Then he turned and left Old Nine's shop.

While walking through the trading market, Sebastian thought about how to get vibranium safely.

At present there were two options available to him.

The first option was to sneak into the planet containing vibranium deposits. He could mine vibranium while Ego was busy being entangled with Star-Lord and the others. However there was a problem with this plan. The timing would be a bit tight. There was also a certain degree of probability that Ego would discover Sebastian's presence. This would inevitably lead to a dangerous conflict.

Although Sebastian's current strength was not bad, it was unlikely that he could be a match for a creature like Ego. Ego could be called a wonder of the universe. This was especially true when Ego possessed some powerful cosmic power that Sebastian did not fully understand.

As for the second option, Sebastian would seek a way to contact Star-Lord and the others. He would aid the original timeline events and ensure Ego's death at the hands of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Once Ego was dead, Sebastian could then leisurely search for the planet containing vibranium. He could even simply take the entire planet for himself.

Sebastian leaned towards the second option. This was not because he wanted to help the Guardians of the Galaxy out of kindness. Rather it was because after Ego's death, Sebastian wanted to obtain some of Ego's body tissue for himself.

Tissue from a powerful cosmic being like Ego could be considered an extremely rare magical material. It could perhaps even be used for forming the core of an even more powerful wand than the one he currently had.

Sebastian acted without hesitation on his decision.

However for now the timing was not right yet. He first asked around about the most famous plant-bearing planets nearby. He used illusion magic to purchase some star maps from traders. Then he set out to search for magical materials he could use. He planned to cultivate them back at Hogwarts.

As Sebastian traveled and plundered the planets for plant and animal materials, something was happening elsewhere. The Ravagers that Sebastian had previously left stranded on the planet of Kelanton had been brought to the Sovereign homeworld. They were brought before Ayesha who was the High Priestess of the Sovereign.

Ayesha's beautiful golden face flickered with disgust as she gazed at the ragged and trembling Ravagers standing before her. She spoke with disdain and said, "The thieves who stole our Anulax Batteries have not been caught and punished yet. Now someone has stolen our rare plants and left our garden planet in ruins. Perhaps we Sovereign have been too friendly lately. This has allowed anyone to take advantage of us."

Hearing Ayesha's words, the Sovereign people around her agreed with her assessment. They condemned the actions of the thieves loudly.

When the magnificent golden hall fell silent again, Ayesha looked down at the Ravagers. She said with clear disdain in her voice, "Give us information about the man who stole our precious plants. I want to know his most likely destination and where he is going.

If you can answer my questions properly, I will reluctantly forgive your failure in protecting the plants. I hope you will cherish this opportunity I am giving you."

...

Sebastian raised his wand slightly upward. Under the influence of his gravity magic, a large area of land rose up from the ground. It was stored in a storage bag that had expanded to an enormous size through the power of the Space Stone.

This planet was the seventh planet that Sebastian had visited since leaving Contraxia. He had been visiting these planets for nearly a month now. After using divination magic, Sebastian was generally sure that a conflict between the Guardians of the Galaxy and Ego was going to happen soon. He prepared to head over to their location to join in the battle.

After all whether it was Ego's core tissue or his memories or even his soul, they were all truly priceless treasures to Sebastian. Sebastian was determined to find a way to obtain them all. Even if he could not find any vibranium on this journey, his trip through the universe would still be worth it.

With this thought in mind, Sebastian was about to leave this planet.

But just then something unexpected happened. Accompanied by a series of loud explosions, a fleet of golden Sovereign remote-controlled drones appeared above Sebastian's head in the sky. They formed a network of encirclement that completely surrounded him from above.

Without any question or demand for surrender, the encirclement was completed quickly. The golden drones opened fire directly at Sebastian on the ground below them.

An invisible magical barrier appeared above Sebastian's head. It completely blocked the drones' weapons fire.

Meanwhile in the Sovereign's golden hall, the Sovereign people watched the images on the large projection screen. They saw Sebastian easily withstand the fire from their drones. They looked at each other in disbelief at what they were seeing.

Ayesha looked at Sebastian on the screen. She said directly to her people, "Use a Sovereign Destroyer weapon! I do not believe he can handle a weapon of that level so easily!"

"As you command High Priestess!"

The golden-skinned Sovereign operator received the order. He immediately began remotely controlling the drones through his console.

Five of the drones suddenly moved swiftly and approached each other. They combined together to form a large cannon barrel. Ten more drones connected to the transformed barrel from behind. They infused it with massive energy. The combined weapon fired a thick dark blue beam directly in Sebastian's direction.

Watching the thick dark blue energy beam descending towards him, Sebastian raised his wand calmly. He drew a large circle above his head in the air. Suddenly a massive portal appeared above Sebastian's head.

While portals would normally collapse if pierced by high energy attacks, the energy limit of the portal Sebastian cast with all his magical might was naturally extremely high. It was far beyond the reach of this simplified Sovereign Destroyer weapon!

The dark blue energy beam passed through the portal above Sebastian. It shot out from another portal that appeared to the right side of the unmanned drones. It directly destroyed half of the unmanned drones in the fleet. It also destroyed those drones that had transformed into the Sovereign Destroyer weapon. The beam caused half of the control instruments in front of the golden-skinned Sovereign operators to turn bright red. This indicated that the unmanned drones they were controlling had been completely destroyed.

Just as Ayesha was about to order a change in the battle plan, Sebastian on the screen suddenly smiled at the camera. He raised his wand again towards the sky. With a dazzling flash of magical light, all the remaining drones were completely destroyed in an instant. The projection screen in the hall also turned blood red. All the drones sent by the Sovereign were destroyed without exception.
