Chapter 13 - chapter-13 The Prince

Point of View: Vegeta

"Vegeta, you are the hope of our race."

"Vegeta, you are the future king of all Saiyans."

"Vegeta, your potential is unmatched."

"Vegeta, you will defeat Frieza and free our race from that tyrant's hand."

"Vegeta, you will take the empire for yourself."

"Vegeta, you will be the strongest."

"Vegeta, you will show the universe the pride of the Saiyans."

'My father told me this every time he could, ever since the day I left the incubation pod.'

And I know I will. 'I've already defeated Saiyans ten times my age; I've destroyed hundreds of Saibamen. There's no Saiyan my age who has the same strength as me, and day after day I'm improving. THERE WILL BE NO STRONGER SAIYAN THAN ME.'

'My father is a strong man, I think, stronger than me, but not for long. Last time I saw him, he had twelve thousand battle power. I currently have seven thousand. Little by little, I'll surpass the old man, and that's what he wants.'

As I look at the view of my planet through my room window, I see a young Saiyan running along the dirt road that passes beneath the castle. He doesn't seem to be any older than me. As he runs, I can see that on his back he carries a large metal block with a carrying frame, like a backpack.

'What a strange kid.'

Then, I return to my training. I have another sparring session waiting for me today. 'I hope it's not as easy as always.'

As I walk to the training room, I see several servants who, as I pass, bow without daring to even look into my eyes.

I quickly reach my destination. There, I see a bald Saiyan four times my height. "Young master, welcome; it's an honor to fight with you today."

Beside him is one of the butlers, a purple-skinned alien. His name... 'I don't remember.' "Young master, welcome," he says.

I nod at him: 'At least this one isn't a coward who shrinks just from a glance.'

I go to the right side of the training room, the bald Saiyan goes to the left, and we both get into fighting stances. I tell him, "Go all out; don't hold back, or you die today." He returns my gaze with a bloody smile as he replies, "Never, your Majesty." Then, he charges forward, ready for the fight.

Five minutes later, he's lying down, unconscious, with both arms broken. "Tch, how boring. Why does my father keep sending me these weaklings?"

The Enigma of Leekon

The next day.

Today I see the same kid running again. 'Why does he do that?'

As I watch, I see something strange: 'Is he faster than yesterday?' It's a small difference, but he really is faster. 'Who is this kid?'

'Well, it doesn't matter; I have to keep fighting and get stronger.'

But this kid was a constant for a month; I saw him every single day doing the same route. 'I saw him running... getting better. He's getting stronger. I can feel it, but how is it possible for someone to get stronger just by doing that?'

Because I don't improve. 'I do get stronger, yes, but I feel it's just a natural improvement. These fights against these pathetic ones can't push me to my limit...' So, as I waited for him to appear today, I made a decision.

Then, as I looked at the beginning of the road on the horizon, I saw him arriving. 'I hope this is fun.'

'How can this be? How can he be so strong? I land a punch; his reaction is minimal. He lands one; it feels like I've been hit by a blaster. But I can't lose!'

'I'm the hope of our race, damn it! How can someone my age be so strong?!'

I look at him as he points that energy sphere at me. 'If he wanted to, he could kill me now, no problem. This is the first time I've felt powerless, the first opponent I haven't defeated.'

"Well, my name is Leekon. I had a lot of fun in this fight."

'Leekon... that's that bastard's name.'

"If you want a rematch, just find me heading in the direction I came from while running." I say as I slowly start to gain altitude.

"So, what's your name?"

He still doesn't reply and continues staring at me with hatred. I keep waiting for a few seconds, but nothing comes out of his mouth.

"Since you won't answer, then goodbye." He says it, but I don't even listen. I just watch him fly away, but before he goes too far, I shout, "IT'S VEGETA, AND I'M GOING TO DESTROY YOU NEXT TIME!"

As he flies away, I look around at the destruction we caused. I see his metal backpack, and I need one just like it.

I fly directly to the castle, passing by the servants. They look at me with wide eyes and whisper among themselves as they see my injured, blood-covered body.

"Young master..." "What happened to him?" "Damn, the King's going to be furious." "How did this happen? That damn old man will end up taking it out on us."

But the only one I pay attention to is when one of them says very quietly, "Why is he smiling? I've never seen him do that."

I put my hand to my mouth and realize: 'Looks like I enjoyed that fight more than I care to admit.'

A small, pink-skinned maid tries to approach, stammering, "Y-young master, you need to go to the infirmary."

She tries to come closer, but I slap her hand away: "I don't need your help." I continue straight, heading towards the throne room. When I arrive, the guards at the door try to stop me, but I ignore those idiots and open the door myself.

Entering the room, I see my father sitting on the throne with some random maid sitting on his lap. He doesn't see me, being too distracted with this woman, so I say, "Father, I need you to help me."

"Yes, yes, what did you want—son, what happened to you?" He throws the woman away, who falls with a loud thud before rolling on the floor.

Then he approaches me, but I stop him from touching me to examine me.

"Nothing you need to worry about. I need you to get something built for me."

The next day, I already had a heavy backpack just like Leekon's.

For the next few days, I watched from afar how he trained. Whenever I did, he'd look in my direction, but he wouldn't come over. I started copying him. ' It hurt my pride, but I started training the way he did. At the end of each training session, I felt like I was going to die, but I could tell it was working. I was finally getting stronger.'

My Vision on Saiyans and Strength Development

So, I've got an idea about how Saiyans actually gained strength. In my head, most of them didn't really have a lot of structured training methods. They kind of just relied more on natural talent and getting stronger through combat, you know?

For me, the Zenkai isn't just about recovery; it's a release of the warrior's latent potential. And to have more of that potential to unleash, you really need to train your body. That's something very few Saiyans actually did. Think about it; instead of properly training their low-class kids, they just sent them off to other planets, like, "Figure it out on your own; good luck conquering the place."

Take Vegeta, for instance. He naturally has high potential, which explains why he was so strong in the Saiyan Saga and even on Namek. But the truth is, it was only after those events that he started training like crazy. And it was with that continuous effort that he finally achieved Super Saiyan.

Leekon, my protagonist, also has extremely high potential. And it's being unleashed and constantly increased because of his super intense training, recovery, and the whole process he goes through. To give you an idea, even when Leekon limited his ki to be very close to Vegeta's during their fight, his body, which was already extensively trained, gave him a huge advantage. That's why Leekon's victory was smoother. The heavy physical training made all the difference.

And thanks for reading my fic. Love you guys.
