Brandon's POV
I needed to confirm if that man in the photo was Chloe's dad.
That thought had been hammering in my mind ever since I left my parents' room.
Now I paced the length of mine, stomping on the cold marble floor like the answer might break free from beneath my feet if I stepped hard enough.
There was only one thing left to do.
I had to go to Chloe's room.
I remembered Madison once mentioned a family portrait on her desk. That might be all I needed. But I couldn't just walk in unprepared. I needed a cover story—something to fall back on if Seth or anyone else caught me.
Seth would be home soon.
I scratched my head, What if he walks in while I'm still there?
Seth had a soft spot for Chloe. I'd seen it. And he knew she and I weren't exactly besties. Getting caught in her room wouldn't just be awkward—it would stir questions I wasn't ready for.
Still, I couldn't stop myself. My thoughts spiraled like an unending loop.
