As they went away…
She stood there… alone in the snow, her hands curled into fists, her eyes blank.
But her heart whispered—just one glance… just one.
She thought maybe… just maybe…
She could follow them from a distance…
Just to make sure he's okay.
Then she'll walk away.
She promised herself.
So she followed—
Quietly… carefully… each step sinking in the snow, but she made no sound.
She reached the cabin… the one they took him into.
And she stood there… near the window…
Watching.
For hours and hours…
The snow fell harder… colder…
But she didn't feel it.
Her fingertips were red… her clothes soaked… her face pale…
But she didn't flinch.
She didn't feel the cold anymore.
Maybe because the pain inside had numbed her beyond feeling.
Or maybe because now…
The only thing that mattered…
Was him.
Just seeing him breathe…
Was enough for her.
