Shelgon's anger was pure rage—the fury of a male whose dignity had been thoroughly trampled.

It endured beatings and scorn because it was weak, but this aligned with the law of the jungle where the strong prey upon the weak. For most wild Pokémon, survival of the fittest remained natural law.

Similarly, this was the bitter fruit it had once sown for itself by seeking shortcuts.

Shelgon hadn't always been so broken.

Only after struggling desperately did it choose to surrender.

Among all the pain, the alienation and disgust from its childhood friend—that ultimate betrayal—had struck the deepest blow, completely destroying its motivation to grow stronger.

Now, realizing that same friend had achieved great success and was about to find a mate, memories of that past betrayal flooded back with renewed intensity.

"Shel~~..."

Shelgon growled in frustration and anguish.

It desperately wanted to do something, to change this cruel reality...

However, looking at its bulky, sluggish body—useful for nothing except enduring punishment—it felt suffocating despair.

A waste like me, a complete failure... even if I refuse to accept this, what can I possibly change?

Roy observed the pain etched across Shelgon's face, its internal struggle and burning rage, and nodded inwardly.

At least the flames of resistance and defiance could still be kindled within its heart.

If it had truly given up completely, becoming utterly broken, no amount of talent would make it worth nurturing.

Of course, if Roy simply walked away now, faced with this hopeless reality, this Shelgon would most likely choose complete surrender.

Roy understood exactly how powerful the motivation and resilience of a drowning person could become when offered that final lifeline.

Elekid had provided that answer once before.

So Roy extended his hand toward Shelgon.

In his open palm lay a Poké Ball, resting quietly.

"I can make you evolve."

"As long as you're willing to work hard, follow my guidance, and trust my decisions..."

"I'll give you the chance to stand before it again and reclaim your dignity from that high Elite Pokémon!"

Shelgon stared at the human extending his hand, filled with confusion.

It couldn't comprehend how Roy might solve its problem, nor understand why he would help.

"Standing before you now is the champion of the 2021 National Competition, the discoverer of Mega Evolution, the founder of the most powerful Z-Moves, and China's most gifted contemporary trainer... Soon to be the only person capable of wielding Dynamax power!"

Roy recited his achievements with a straight face.

"You might not understand all of that, but it's fine."

"You just need to know that the legendary king who rules this region respects me enough to share his mount. Even Mew, the most powerful mythical Pokémon, chose me as its messenger. I've shared laughs with Ho-Oh..."

Shelgon understood maybe sixty or seventy percent, but it was thoroughly impressed.

These accomplishments seemed incredibly significant...

If what he claimed was true, then solving its problem might indeed be simple?

"Shel Shelgon..." Shelgon began.(But why do you want to help me.)

As if hearing something absurd, Roy couldn't help but laugh: "Isn't it natural for a trainer to help the Pokémon they choose?"

Hearing this, Shelgon fell silent, staring intently at Roy's outstretched hand and the Poké Ball it held.

This wasn't just a hand offering rescue...

It was also the hand asking for its trust once again.

Having tasted betrayal before, whenever it considered trusting someone new, memories of past pain would resurface.

If it chose not to believe, it would return to its previous existence. Though painful, it had already adapted to that misery.

If it chose to trust, there might be hope—but more likely, another betrayal awaited, bringing even deeper agony.

Whatever decision it made would require tremendous courage.

Roy understood this completely. He maintained his outstretched posture and waited patiently.

Time seemed to stretch endlessly.

Suddenly, Shelgon exhaled deeply. Without hesitation or pain in its eyes, it looked at Roy with newfound determination and reached toward the Poké Ball.

Click!

Its massive body transformed into red light and disappeared into the Poké Ball.

The Poké Ball never shook even once before lighting up green.

Perfect capture!

"Excellent." Roy held the Poké Ball, his mouth curving into a slight smile.

Every time he caught a Pokémon, he felt the profound sensation of being chosen and trusted in return.

Choosing each other, supporting each other, growing together—this was the bond between trainer and Pokémon.

"I won't disappoint your expectations. I'll make you the strongest dragon..."

Roy murmured softly.

He opened his system panel, visiting the trainer category after a long absence.

Compared to the extensive Pokémon enhancement branches, very few improvements applied to trainers themselves.

Currently, both his psychic and aura powers had reached 'master level'—essentially the peak achievable by humans.

The 'transcendent level' beyond that, like high-level energy for Pokémon, was no longer attainable through ordinary enhancements.

To solve Shelgon's situation today, one specific power was absolutely essential.

That magical force could amplify Dragon-types and produce incredible effects on Dragon Pokémon.

—The Power of the Dragon.

[Dragon Power (Master Level), 99.8 million points will be deducted...]

Roy only managed to read that line clearly before being overwhelmed by the force suddenly surging through his body, scattering his concentration.

He closed his eyes, controlling this immense new power.

Years of meditation had accustomed him to wielding psychic abilities, helping him balance the relationship between his psychic powers, aura abilities, and this new Dragon power.

Soon, he raised his right hand as purple energy suddenly swirled in his palm.

"So this is Dragon power..." Roy curiously manipulated the energy, changing its shape like a child with a new toy.

"I wonder how my level compares to other Dragon masters?"

Almost immediately, the Poké Ball containing Shelgon began swaying slightly, resonating with the Dragon power and radiating intense desire for strength.

"Don't worry—this power will soon benefit you too."

Roy comforted his new partner and climbed back onto Glastrier.

"Let's go. Time to return to King Calyrex first."

Glastrier sensed the 'Dragon Power' emanating from Roy and immediately understood why its master valued this human so highly.
