Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Does Ninjutsu require hand seals?

As the school bell rang, a young man in a green flak jacket stepped into the classroom and stood at the podium.

"Hello, students. My name is Iruka Umino, and I'll be your homeroom teacher from now on," he said with a warm smile."Before we start today's lessons, let's get to know each other. We'll begin with the first row on the left."

One by one, the students introduced themselves.

"My name is…"

"Hello everyone, I'm Ino Yamanaka. Please take care of me!" said a bright and confident girl.

"My name is Shino Aburame," came a calm, almost detached voice.

"Uchiha Sasuke," said the boy with a cold, indifferent tone.

Then, a loud, energetic voice:"My name is Uzumaki Naruto! Remember it! I'm the man who's going to become Hokage!"

Each introduction revealed a different personality, a colorful tapestry of characters.Among them, the most conspicuous was naturally Uzumaki Naruto.Although Iruka Umino was still somewhat biased against him, the class hadn't known Naruto long enough to mock him yet.

When Hinata's turn came, she stood up shyly and stammered,"M-my name is Hyuga Hinata… p-please take care of me…"

Her nervous, timid demeanor stood in stark contrast to Ino's lively and confident energy.Fortunately, this was not a normal world—otherwise, someone as fragile as Hinata might have been easily isolated or bullied.

Then came Izanami's turn.

"Hello everyone. My name is Izanami."

His introduction was simple and ordinary. But his delicate features—black hair and clear blue eyes—instantly captured the attention of many of the girls in class.

Feeling the heated gazes, Izanami inwardly clicked his tongue. So precocious…

In this world, children matured rapidly: living independently at three, understanding love at five or six, stepping onto the battlefield by twelve, and becoming heroes by sixteen or seventeen. It was an outrageous pace of life.Because of that, the title of "genius" carried a staggering weight.

After the self-introductions, it was time for something Izanami was very familiar with:

Distributing textbooks.

Yet as he flipped through the books he'd received, the corner of his mouth twitched uncontrollably.

"National Language" and "Mathematics" were fine.

But "Biology," "Medicine," and "Chemistry"?No wonder kids here matured so quickly—it seemed that precociousness was practically institutionalized.

Along with the textbooks, Iruka Umino handed out a scroll to each student.

Inside was the method for extracting Chakra.

"Chakra is a special energy extracted from the body's 130 trillion cells, formed by combining physical energy and spiritual energy in the right proportion. It's the foundation of becoming a Ninja," Iruka explained patiently.

He continued, "The entrance exam screened students whose spiritual and physical energies met the basic standards. However, this is only the beginning. Knowledge and physical training can further strengthen these energies. Students who have yet to manifest Chakra must work hard—if your progress remains insufficient by the end of the observation period, you will be advised to withdraw."

Upon hearing this, many students from non-Ninja families looked visibly anxious.

They misunderstood, Izanami thought idly. They're worried over nothing.

Although the Academy didn't publicly rank students, those who made it into Class 1 were either children of powerful clans or exceptional talents.

A single glance told Izanami everything. Each student had at least a white-tier qualification, with many already carrying green-tier Chunin potential.

In other words, even if they failed to graduate, most of them were future Genin at minimum.

Those with green-tier entries would almost certainly reach Chunin rank—so long as they didn't die young.

As for the clan heirs, like Ino Yamanaka, their qualifications were even better—blue-tier Jonin potential.

However, Sakura Haruno's qualification caught Izanami's particular attention.

While she only had a green-tier Chunin qualification, her Chakra Control talent was purple-tier, on par with rare Bloodline Limits.

This meant her raw potential as a ninja was limited—but her skill in controlling Chakra was astonishing.

It mirrored Hinata's situation: despite her Princess of the Byakugan skill being red-tier, her overall qualification was only blue-tier Jonin.Without a heaven-defying breakthrough, Chunin would be Sakura's limit.

But if she succeeded in changing her fate...

She would rise to become one of the famed New Generation's Legendary Three Ninja.

After the distribution of textbooks and scrolls, Iruka wasted no time and began the day's lessons.

The morning was dedicated to cultural studies.

The afternoon was for physical training—simple exercises to build the students' foundational strength.

Students were also given stones to practice throwing techniques, a basic prelude to shurikenjutsu.

As for advanced techniques—like the Three Body Technique, Body Flicker, Invisibility, and actual kunai or shuriken use—those were still far off.

Even sparring was postponed until later stages of training.

The first semester of the first year clearly focused on laying a solid foundation—building up knowledge and basic physical fitness.

At first, Izanami attended classes normally. But after confirming that Taijutsu sparring wouldn't be introduced any time soon, he decided there was no point in sending his real body to the Academy.

After all, Izanami—who had awakened the Ōtsutsuki Bloodline at the age of three—now possessed an absurdly vast Chakra reserve. Not to mention Uzumaki Naruto, who still couldn't even extract Chakra yet—even compared to someone like Kakashi Hatake, who could already perform the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique at five or six years old, Izanami's Chakra volume was on another level.

Even his shadow clones were remarkable: in both durability and endurance, they far exceeded what Uchiha Itachi's clones could achieve.

So, leaving a shadow clone to attend school in his place, Izanami himself used the Transformation Technique to disguise himself as an ordinary boy and slipped away to the wilderness—a forgotten training ground—to focus on his real objective: mastering Ninjutsu.

On the empty field, Izanami extended his palm, his movements deliberate.

"Wind Release: Gale Palm!"

With a burst of compressed air, Chakra transformed into a spiraling cyclone in his palm before blasting outward, kicking up sand and dust in all directions.

He pretended to form hand seals.

But the truth was—he didn't need them.

Except for auxiliary techniques like the Three Body Technique and Shadow Clone Technique, Izanami could already perform all basic Five Elements Ninjutsu without a single hand seal.

That alone set him apart.

Even among red-tier talents, there were differences in rank—and the Ōtsutsuki Bloodline was a superior existence, a step above the Sage Body, Immortal Eyes, or even the Princess of the Byakugan.

It wasn't just about overwhelming Chakra reserves; it was about pure, instinctive mastery of Ninjutsu—an ability that mirrored the ancient Ōtsutsuki Clan before Indra even invented hand seals.

Even someone as legendary as Senju Hashirama needed to clasp his hands and shout out his techniques. But Izanami? He could cast Ninjutsu freely, seamlessly, with a mere thought.

This wasn't just power.

It was a weapon.

In battle, when enemies assumed he was busy weaving hand seals, Izanami could unleash an instant attack, taking them by complete surprise.

A hidden trump card, sharper than any kunai.
