"Everyone, how about letting me answer this one?"
Star-Lord stood up, boldly "volunteering himself." He looked at the two remaining contestants who hadn't answered yet. "This Hextech Gunblade… I'm actually pretty interested in it."
"Gunblade? What kind of strange term is that? Is it a gun, or a blade?" Strange couldn't help asking curiously.
But he quickly shrugged. "Anyway, whatever it is, it's clearly a weapon. I don't need it, and I'm not interested. Whoever wants it can take it."
Since Strange clearly didn't want it, Star-Lord shifted his attention to the only other contestant who hadn't answered yet — Dr. Banner.
He was asking for Banner's opinion.
"This thing is completely useless to me. Since you want to answer, fine, go ahead." Banner also shrugged, agreeing.
Seeing that no one objected, Star-Lord couldn't help showing a delighted expression.
"I choose B — Gamora!"
With excitement and anticipation in his tone, Star-Lord gave his answer.
[Correct answer!]
The system immediately responded.
[Congratulations, responder Peter Quill, for obtaining: Hextech Gunblade!][Reward has been delivered. Please check.]
With the system's announcement, a large, oddly-shaped weapon — entirely emerald green — appeared in Star-Lord's hand. It looked like a gun… or a very large blade.
"So this is the Gunblade?" Star-Lord played with the strange weapon, his eyes shining. "This thing is amazing."
"So this is a gunblade… it's both a gun and a blade!" Strange finally understood.
Call it a gun? Sure — except it had no barrel. Where the barrel should be was instead a huge emerald-colored blade.
Call it a blade? Also yes — except it had no hilt.
Instead, it had a gun grip! And even a trigger!
This bizarre hybrid weapon was something none of them had ever seen before.
"Star-Lord, I admit it's a blade. Looks sharp enough. Should be useful for cutting people. But it's a gun too? Can it fire bullets?"
Thor stared in surprise and curiosity.
"Of course it can. Don't use your outdated understanding to judge it. Watch carefully!"
Star-Lord said enthusiastically, then lifted the Hextech Gunblade and pulled the trigger in one direction.
Zzzap!
A blinding bolt of lightning-like energy shot out from the blade itself.
Turns out this thing didn't need a barrel at all.
Thinking about it, that made sense: a barrel, rifling — these were only needed if you were firing physical bullets.
This weapon fired energy rounds.
Boom!
A blast of violent energy struck the ground and exploded instantly.
Judging from the scale of the explosion, the Gunblade's power was even stronger than the E-11 Blaster the Black Widow previously received.
"Whoa! I just shot a bolt of lightning, did you see that?" Star-Lord was getting more smug by the second. "This lightning-round — you can't find anything like it in the universe. It's too cool!"
"It is indeed cool," Strange admitted.
Even though he didn't need weapons like this, he had to acknowledge how impressive that shot looked.
A gun like this was absolutely stylish.
"It's okay, I guess." Thor shook his head, showing off. "Still not as strong as a casual lightning bolt from me."
Way to ruin the vibe, big guy.
Star-Lord glared at Thor, very displeased, then smirked in challenge: "But can your lightning slow enemies down?"
"This weapon has that effect?" Captain America couldn't help sounding surprised. That was a bit magical.
"That's right!" Star-Lord nodded proudly. "Anyone hit by this gun will have their movement speed reduced. The amount depends on how strong they are. At maximum, it can slow movement by 40%."
Forty percent.
That was terrifying.
Almost half.
In combat, that could be fatal.
"Of course I can do that." Thor shrugged. "Not only can I slow enemies, I can slow them to zero. Because whoever gets hit by my lightning dies immediately."
"Oh really?" Star-Lord wasn't convinced. "Then can your lightning heal your own wounds?"
"Heal…?" Thor froze.
Everyone else froze too.
Weapons and healing — two things that never went together. They were practically opposites. Yet this weapon somehow combined them?
A gun… that heals?
What kind of absurd weapon was this?!
"This gun's most important function: 15% of the damage it deals is converted into healing and stamina for the user."
Star-Lord's smugness had reached its peak.
Everyone was stunned.
A weapon with a straight-up lifesteal mechanic?
That was broken.
A weapon that heals you while killing enemies?! You'd become an unkillable monster on the battlefield.
The more you fight, the stronger you get — like having god-tier cheats turned on.
"Interesting. Very interesting." Tony Stark looked absolutely fascinated, eyes glowing with scientific madness. "This gun completely breaks my understanding of weapon design. I'm dying to know how any of these functions work."
"Star-Lord, when this quiz ends, can you lend me the gun to study?" Tony asked eagerly.
"We can talk once I get to Earth." Star-Lord didn't accept, but he didn't refuse either.
[Answer complete. Beginning playback of the explanation!]
The system suddenly spoke. Everyone stopped discussing and turned their attention to the large screen.
In a grand hall with strong outer-space aesthetics, Gamora sat in a chair, looking troubled.
Thanos appeared, holding a bowl of food, and handed it to her. "I thought you might be hungry."
Gamora took the bowl, but instead of eating, she smashed it on the chair she had been sitting in.
Shattered instantly.
"I hate that chair!" Gamora snapped.
"I know. But even so, I hope that one day, you'll sit on it." Thanos wasn't angry. He sat down on a nearby step instead.
Listening to Gamora complain about everything she hated…
The two began a father-daughter conversation.
Through their exchange, everyone watching finally learned the truth: Gamora's planet had been massacred when she was a child.
Thanos wiped out half her planet's population, then took young Gamora away and raised her.
This revelation surprised everyone.
But this also explained why Gamora betrayed Thanos — their hatred went deep.
Throughout the conversation, Gamora made no effort to hide her disgust and hatred toward Thanos.
"I hate everything you taught me!" Gamora said, lifting her head to stare at Thanos.
"And because of that, you became the fiercest woman in the galaxy," Thanos replied meaningfully. "That's why I sent you to find the Soul Stone."
"Sorry I disappointed you," Gamora answered.
"You did disappoint me," Thanos said, voice heavy with meaning. "Not because you didn't find it — but because you did, and lied."
Bang!
A heavy hatch suddenly opened beside them. Gamora turned and hurried inside.
There she saw a woman suspended in the air, restrained by some unknown method.
It was Thanos's other daughter — Nebula.
"Nebula!"
Gamora's expression filled with worry.
Nebula's entire cybernetic body was being pulled apart by an invisible force, piece by piece…
Like a mechanical anatomy diagram exploding outward.
It was horrifying. Everyone watching grimaced.
"Please don't do this!" Gamora pleaded.
"Some time ago, your sister snuck onto my ship to assassinate me," Thanos said as he walked in, step by step toward Gamora. "She almost succeeded. So I brought her here… to have a talk."
Nebula nearly assassinated Thanos?
That shocked everyone.
They had faced Nebula recently. She was strong, sure — but not unstoppable.
Even Captain America and Iron Man could handle her. As for Thor or Hulk, she didn't stand a chance.
How could someone at that level nearly kill Thanos?
But assassination involves too many factors — it wasn't something to judge purely by power levels. After the initial surprise, the group didn't dwell on it.
Hum—
Thanos suddenly lifted his hand. The three Infinity Stones on his gauntlet lit up, unleashing massive power.
Nebula's already-torn body was ripped open even further.
"Ahh!"
Nebula screamed in agony.
"Stop! Please stop!" Gamora begged desperately. "I swear on my life — I really didn't find the Soul Stone!"
Tears streamed down her face. Her acting was flawless — those watching couldn't see a single crack in her expression.
She really could act.
But it didn't fool Thanos.
He already had undeniable proof.
Thanos signaled to a nearby subordinate, who tapped a control panel.
"Access memory file!"
Nebula's eyes suddenly turned into projectors, displaying a recorded image.
Gamora's face.
"Nebula is… a robot?" Strange blurted out.
Otherwise, how could someone read her memory?
But then he immediately corrected himself — why would Thanos adopt a robot as a daughter?
And a robot wouldn't scream in pain like that.
Clearly Nebula wasn't a robot — she was a human girl who had been heavily modified.
Modified so drastically that Strange felt chills just thinking about it.
"You know what he's planning. He's finally ready. He's going after the Stones — all of them!"
Nebula's voice sounded from the projection.
"He can't get all the Stones," Gamora replied firmly.
"He will!" Nebula snapped urgently.
"He can't, Nebula! Because I found the map to the Soul Stone!" Gamora said. "And I burned it. I burned it!"
Well.
That was ironclad evidence.
Gamora couldn't deny it anymore.
"You're strong — because I taught you."
"You're generous — because I taught you."
Thanos spoke again. "But I never taught you how to lie. That's why you're terrible at it. Now tell me — where is the Soul Stone?"
After speaking, he clenched his fist again.
"Ahhh!"
Nebula screamed once more.
Gamora couldn't stand it anymore and shouted: "Vormir! The Stone is on Vormir!"
Vormir.
Everyone watching instantly snapped to attention, committing the name to memory.
The location of the Soul Stone was finally revealed.
"Take me there."
Thanos spoke with an unquestionable tone.
Gamora had burned the map, so she had to guide him personally.
And Thanos didn't trust her anyway.
The scene froze on Thanos's domineering face.
