Chapter 4 - 2. The vision

Liya knew how powerful Amaroks were and how weak she stood. But as long as she was alive, she won't let anyone take away Inu from her. She said with the knife pointed at Yul, "I won't allow anyone to take Inu from me. You will have to kill me if you want to."

Devin saw how the scene suddenly escalated. If this continued, somebody would surely get hurt. So he came to front and tried to reason with Liya. He said, "Ma'am, please calm down. You see, violence can't solve anything. You are scaring Inu too. So please drop the knife and calm down. We can talk this through, okay?"

"There is nothing to talk about. I am not letting anyone take my son away from me. You… get out of my house. Get out this instant." Liya screamed at them. She wasn't ready to compromise to anything if that meant separating her from Inu.

Now Yul lost his composure completely. He combed his hair back with his hand and Devin sensed that Yul was really fuming in anger, on seeing it. Devin stepped back to make way for Yul obediently.

Yul stepped forward and made Liya point the knife at his heart. He said, "If I want to, I can take Inu from here this instant. You won't be able to do anything, nor will you see Inu again in this life time. Do you want to try?"

Liya was frightened beyond limits but she couldn't back out now. It was a matter of life and death for her. So she kept pointing the knife at Yul. But to her surprise, he closed in on Liya and the knife now pressed on to his coat. Yul held her hand firmly so that Liya couldn't make another move.

Just then something flashed before Liya's eyes. It was an image of Inu. He was trying to ride a bicycle in a lawn. Then she saw a woman in a brown dress watching him, standing nearby. Liya couldn't clearly see the woman's face as her short hair had blown ever to her face, but nevertheless she was graceful. Just then Inu called out, "Mom, dad, look, I did it. I can ride without falling now." Liya looked at Inu on hearing that, but it was Yul that answered Inu. "Well done Inu. But be careful and don't go far." Hearing Yul's voice Liya turned to look at him, only to find him hugging the women. She saw how he carefully moved the woman's shoulder length hair from her left side to kiss on a birthmark which was right under it. The woman had buried her face in Yul's chest and hugged him back. Liya heard Yul ask, "How is the baby doing?" It was then Liya noticed that the woman was pregnant.

It was a lovely scene of a family of three expecting their second child. The scene blurred away. But wait, something was wrong. Liya found out that she wasn't in the scene. But Inu was. He was happy and was calling Yul and another woman his dad and mom. It wasn't her whom he called mom. So where was she? Where did Yul take Inu?

"No… It's not possible. I will never allow that. I will never allow anyone to take my child away from me…" Liya kept repeating the same words. To see that her son calling another woman mom was something she couldn't bear. She became more determined to keep Inu from Yul.

But in the moment of her vision, something else was happening. Liya had forgotten that she was still pointing the knife at Yul's heart. And in the moment of desperation and anger about losing Inu in the future she saw, she had actually pushed the knife further into Yul's heart.

Yul forced the knife back from his chest due to the pain and it was then she came back to the reality. Liya saw the blood staining his shirt and screamed in fear. What really scared her wasn't clear. Maybe it was the vision she saw or maybe the fact that she just stabbed someone, or maybe both. She suddenly dropped the knife and rolled herself with Inu into the kitchen corner. Yul was fast to catch the knife mid-air to prevent it from causing another accident. But Liya and Inu were so terrified that they both were crying now.

Devin was shocked by what had happened. It was the first time he saw Yul do such a stupid act of harming himself. Yul could have easily unarmed Liya and solved the situation. But why hurt oneself to the extent of seeing blood. Devin kept looking at Yul, unable to understand the man in front of him nor did he actually understand what had just occurred. From his point of view, it was Yul that forced Liya to stab him.

Yul was also in shock as a matter of fact. He also couldn't find out why he did such a thing. He was not someone who acted out of emotions. Then why did he allow Liya to hurt him? He was also at his wit's end. But it was not the time to dwell on that. Liya and Inu were on the verge of a breakdown and he had to do something quickly.

Yul took few deep breathes to calm down and walked out of the house. He had calmed down to his normal self and called Devin out. Standing at the corridor in front of the house Yul said, "Go and buy something sweet – ice-creams, chocolates or anything the child would like. Go… quick."

Devin sighed and said, "I am not at all getting you now. What just happened? Shouldn't we at least look at the wound first?"

Yul didn't hear what Devin had asked. Instead he said, "I asked you to do something. Aren't you going?"

Devin didn't want to ask anything further. So he answered politely, "I will go and get it."

Devin was not only an assistant but a good friend too. So he is used to take this privilege whenever it was the two of them only. On his way he turned and said to Yul, "Press on that stab wound. I will get you some bandage too. And watch them, so that they won't do anything stupid and hurt themselves; careful not to scare them..."

Yul nodded at Devin and went back inside. The mother and son were still sitting in the corner like a big ball. Inu was now hugging Liya like a Koala with all his four limbs tightly clutching around her.

Liya had actually calmed down a bit, but tears were still flowing from her eyes. She was trying to make Inu calm down by patting him and kept saying, "It is okay baby. I'm here. Momma is here. Don't cry. I won't let anyone take my Inu from me. Momma is here, okay?"

Yul listened to what Liya was saying and then looked at the knife he had placed on the table on his way out. There was some blood at its tip, his blood. Yul looked at his chest; the white shirt underneath the black coat was stained with red colour. It wasn't that big a wound, but not a small one either. The tip of the knife had pierced into the skin leaving a flesh wound. It did hurt, but he was more hurt looking at the mother and son in the corner.
