In the following days, Commander Number 3 led a slow and draining siege on the fortress.
The Evil Cyborgs waited for their opportunity to strike. They also destroyed the traps and barricades.
The walls of Hopeshire Fort were littered with holes made by lasers.
Meanwhile, General Bobby sent soldiers and fired artillery to harass the cyborgs.
One day, cyborg reinforcements arrived with improved supplies.
Commander Number 3 stared at the supplies and grinned widely. He chuckled and announced, "It's now time to invade." From the supplies, he reached for a unique big laser gun.
Once again, The Evil Cyborgs surrounded Hopeshire Fort.
"Attack," Commander Number 3 commanded his cyborgs. This time around, he rushed with the cyborgs, and he charged his laser gun with energy. "Laser Beam," he shouted.
A giant Laser Beam shot out and destroyed the fortress' walls. Artillery, soldiers, and debris flew into the air. Smoke rose.
Soldiers poured out and got in formation. They retaliated and harassed the cyborgs.
Commander Number 3 obliterated them with another shot of his laser gun.
The survivors retreated into the fortress. They fired behind them.
Hundreds of cyborgs chased them inside.
From the sides, soldiers were prepared to flank the cyborgs.
The surviving soldiers retreated behind a line of tanks.
The tanks pushed back against the cyborgs and fired.
With the supplies, The Evil Cyborgs had received upgraded laser guns. Thus, they shot lasers that pierced the tanks.
The tanks exploded, and the soldiers were killed.
On the other side, the rest of General Bobby's army stood in a straight line.
"The fortress was breached. We must not let them in any further," General Bobby urged and stood in front. He received final memories of his soldiers. He clutched his radio and asked, "Commander, where are my reinforcements?"
"Huh? Who's this," a female voice queried. It was the supreme commander's assistant.
"It's General Bobby. Why do you have the supreme commander's radio," General Bobby questioned.
"Who," the assistant queried again.
"Stop playing dumb with me. Hand me over to the supreme commander this instant," General Bobby demanded.
"General Bobby, it's a shame. No reinforcements are coming to help you," Commander Darius asserted and continued, "I'm certain you would have made a great supreme commander after the upcoming election."
"Are you serious," General Bobby interrogated and breathed deeply. "I understand, boss," he muttered and ended the call. He had no time to argue.
His army waited for his orders.
General Bobby looked down and sighed. In his mind, he ran multiple strategies. All of them led to one outcome. Certain death was their undeniable fate. He turned around and solemnly stared at the remainder of his forces.
"What are our orders," one of them inquired.
General Bobby expressed, "I have fought for my life ever since I was a kid. Back then, I fought for my survival. It was my life. After I joined the military, I fought for Stribora and its people. They were my family. Then, I fought for a brighter world for my kid. I ask you to do the same as I, today. Put everything aside. Your family, your friends, your experiences, and finally, your life. Fight for the future generations of humanity! Let's not pave this path to our extinction!" He fixed his hat and turned around.
"Yes, sir," General Bobby's soldiers affirmed instantaneously.
The Evil Cyborgs loomed closer.
General Bobby clutched his elemental sword and announced, "We'll surround the cyborgs. Then, we'll blast them with everything we got. We'll fight to the end!"
General Bobby's army prepared themselves for their final fight. "We'll fight back," they rallied and charged.
Unfortunately, The Evil Cyborgs decimated General Bobby's army.
A cyborg was advanced enough to destroy ten tanks.
Helicopters fell from the sky.
General Bobby charged with his elemental weapon. He traded blows with Number 4. Though, his body did not move like it used to.
In a flash, Number 4 shot off his arm, and he kicked him onto the ground.
On the ground, General Bobby grasped his shoulder and stared at the sky. He smirked and declared, "You are going to be blown up to ash."
Number 4 also glanced at the sky.
In the sky, three jets soared. They carried a missile each. They launched their missiles towards Commander Number 3 and his cyborgs.
Commander Number 3 readied his laser gun and shot a giant Laser Beam.
Laser Beam reached and destroyed the missiles and jets.
A giant explosion occurred in the sky. The shockwave reached the battlefield.
General Bobby gritted his teeth. Still, he saw an opening and swung his elemental sword.
Acid sprayed on Number 4.
General Bobby crawled away.
Number 4 groaned in agony, and he fell to his hands and knees. It was not enough to deter him. As the acid melted his skin, he stood up with fury, and he grasped General Bobby's neck. He scowled and glared at him.
Off the ground, General Bobby gazed around the battlefield.
Blood and smoke tarnished the fortress, and a boulder crushed a corpse nearby.
The battle was already over.
General Bobby was the last survivor of his army, and his life was being squeezed out of him. As his neck was squeezed, he heard a faint voice.
"Hold on, Number 4. Let go of the old man," Commander Number 3 ordered.
Number 4 obliged and threw General Bobby onto the ground.
Commander Number 3 loomed over and looked at General Bobby. He crouched and remarked, "You are the last survivor."
On the ground, General Bobby coughed and gasped for air.
"Are you the general in charge of this fort's defenses? What's your name," Commander Number 3 asked.
General Bobby stood up and answered, "I'm General Bobby, the last Legendary War Hero. You're the commander, aren't you?"
Commander Number 3 was surprised by the answer. He nodded and questioned, "Do you remember me, Bobby?"
With one arm, General Bobby readied his elemental sword and replied, "I do not."
"Oh, it's an elemental weapon," Commander Number 3 smiled and commented. He added, "We were just kids back then. It's a shame to see you, now. You proved to be a good adversary, yet not worthy. Sadly, you have to die." He stood up and ordered, "Cyborgs, kill him."
General Bobby courageously fought the cyborgs. He stabbed one of them and pressed a button.
The cyborg melted inside out, and acid splashed everywhere.
"Watch out! That sword is dangerous," Number 4 alerted. He fired a laser.
More cyborgs shot.
General Bobby ran and dove into a trench. He grabbed a dropped laser gun and kept his distance. He fired until it overcharged.
Cyborgs fell back as they were shot.
"Darn it," General Bobby cursed.
Number 4 menacingly stood over General Bobby. He aimed and sneered. He shot a laser that pierced his gut.
General Bobby stumbled back and forth. "Curse you," he groaned and collapsed to the ground.
Blood of a hero of humanity tainted the ground.
The Evil Cyborgs walked away.
Before his demise, General Bobby saw his own final memories.
