"Hello, Boss," Selina greeted politely, masking her nerves behind a steady, faint voice.
Martin scoffed. "I wonder how much he paid you to spend the whole day with him. I guess it was a hefty sum, more than your salary. You shouldn't have come to the pub at all. Might as well have spent another night with him."
Selina's neutral expression faltered at Martin's harsh words. Absolutely, Zane did pay for her to cover up her shift since it ended by 11PM and the party was just 8PM.
If she had known that tempting offer was to drag her into ruin, she wouldn't have gladly accepted it.
"Your assumptions about me are completely wrong," she replied, her voice trembling with the weight of emotions from the previous day, each word carefully restrained.
"Was there any good reason you couldn't make it to the pub earlier when you know weekends are our busiest times?"
