Chapter 23 - Kicked out

Days blurred into nights, and Selina lost track of how long she had been confined as she rested her body against the chilly walls of her holding cell.

The support from Annabelle and Clarissa provided her with both physical and mental strength as she anxiously awaited feedback from the attorney sent by Zane since the police had shown no positive results in their investigation over the past few weeks.

The attorney had visited her twice to update her on her case while Zane pulled strings behind the scenes.

However, Zane had remained silent and unreactive throughout this time, which left her feeling unsettled.

What mattered most to her was her release, and she had been waiting for it. The process felt endless, trapping her in the boredom of this place, where she entertained herself by observing the monotonous activities of the policemen as they moved back and forth with cases and answered the persistent calls on the landline every day.
