Helena smiled across the candlelit table, as her phone camera flashed in Aidan's face.
He furrowed his brows. "What are you doing?"
She smiled and glanced up at him. "Nothing. Just want to keep a picture of you."
But that wasn't the case. Helena uploaded the pictures immediately on her socials. "Out with my LOML."
Aidan, oblivious to that, watched her. Her expression was bright and composed as if nothing in the world could trouble her.
The flicker of soft golden light glowed against her perfect features, but it was a mask, and Aidan knew it. Her smile might have fooled anyone else, but to him, it was not real.
In contrast, his own face was frowned in displeasure. He leaned back in his chair, with arms crossed, wondering why she was doing this, why she would willingly sit in this place, across from him, pretending as though this evening meant something.
