"Need help with your makeup?" Selene asked as she sat on the bed.
They were at Lena's house getting ready for the party. Selene had already finished her own makeup and she looked effortlessly elegant as always. Selene always preferred minimal makeup, just like she had on, unlike Sophia who leaned more into a bolder look.
Sophia was seated in front of the mirror with a brush in her hand. She met Selene's eyes in the mirror and her lips twitched into a tight smile. "I think I got it."
Selene tilted her head. "You sure? You've been holding that brush for quite a while."
Sophia laughed under her breath but it sounded a bit too bitter. "Just… thinking."
"Oh. Whatever about?" Selene asked with a smile.
"It's nothing, Selene." Sophia snapped. "Worry about your own problems."
Sophia had been breaking, little by little since that night. Selene had been… cruel, a bad friend.
