Glasses clinked in the air and the room buzzed with a mix of excitement and unease. Though Michael was the only one feeling uneasy.
He'd planned this night over and over in his head. He marinated the chicken in vodka, and instead of grilling or roasting it, he just flash cooked it to leave some of the alcohol uncooked in the sauce.
Gabriel had instructed him to drink lightly as the alcohol would be heavily induced but he also needed a way to get Gabriel drunk, which was why he was insistent on cooking for the night.
"Dude, this is actually amazing," Gabriel said with his mouth full of chicken as he tipped back another glass of champagne. "How about coming to work for me as a chef?"
Michael gave him a dry smile as he took a sip of his drink. "Glad you like it."
Lena had only eaten a little, she was distracted by the tension in the room. To her, everyone except Sophia was enjoying themselves.
