The crying girl fell to the ground, her escape hampered by the ever-present frost that seemed to pursue her relentlessly.
Despite her pride as a Phoenix, a child of flame, she was utterly helpless against the encroaching ice.
The flames nearby offered no warmth; the biting cold pursued her relentlessly, threatening to freeze her very soul.
Tears flowed uncontrollably down Ravel's cheeks. Despite her pride and stubbornness, she was ultimately a spoiled child sheltered by her brother, untouched by hardship.
Waaah… it's so scary. Why is the frost so terrifying? Someone, please save me.
Someone, please save Ravel…
"Proud princess of the Phenex family, crouching and crying isn't becoming of you." A gentle voice interrupted Ravel's weeping.
"Y-you… don't come closer!" Ravel, wiping her tears, quickly noticed Arthas standing before her.
Though he'd sheathed his terrifying greatsword, Ravel still felt the source of the cold emanating from the man.
Facing the culprit responsible for her current predicament, Ravel's lower lip trembled, tears welling up.
"I told you I didn't want to bully little girls. Honestly."
Arthas said, exasperated. Ravel looked resentful but helpless; both she and the Phenex flames had been utterly defeated by this man.
"Be good, stop crying. You're the Phenex heiress. There are many people watching. I can't afford to make you cry."
Shaking his head with amusement, Arthas approached Ravel and gently hugged her.
"Wuu…"
Instinctively shrinking back in fear, Ravel expected unbearable cold, but strangely, after Arthas's embrace, the biting chill vanished, replaced by an indescribable soothing coolness.
This feeling… so comfortable… so comfortable…
Despite being hugged by a man she'd just met, Ravel didn't resist. She wiped her tears, curiously looking at Arthas's face.
"Hey, bully, what is your divine artifact? Why is it so powerful?"
"Trying to extract information to tell your brother?"
Gently stroking her head, Arthas chuckled. The girl reminded him of his own daughters.
"No way! Brother and I are different. You only bully children. Your frost won't work against Brother, who wields the strongest flames. He'll defeat you." Ravel said angrily, clenching her fist.
"Then let's see. It's time to end this game." As Arthas spoke, the frost surrounding the frozen flames shattered, releasing the biting cold.
Crystalline fragments fluttered like snowflakes. Ravel stared, mesmerized by the beauty. Children are children; a little coaxing makes them happy.
Snapping out of it, Ravel realized she was being carried to the new school building.
"Yaa!" Knowing everyone saw her being held, she blushed and tried to escape, but failed. His arms held her firmly.
Looking up, she saw a furious Riser.
"Don't get so worked up, Master Riser. I can't fly, so I asked your sister for a lift." Arthas shrugged, smiling.
"F-fine. You could have just said so. So troublesome." Ravel blushed, spreading her fiery wings and carrying Arthas to the rooftop of the new school building.
"Be good, go watch your sister, Rias. You might get hurt." On the rooftop, Arthas said gently to Ravel.
"Are you really going to fight my brother? You beat me because I'm not an adult yet. Your frost won't work on my brother!" Ravel looked worried.
"Can I take that as you caring about me?" Arthas asked, amused.
"No! I just don't want you killed. A devil with such a powerful divine artifact and potential shouldn't fall so easily." Ravel pouted, then ignored Arthas, flying towards Rias and Asia in the distance.
"Hmph… little girl." Arthas chuckled, rubbing his nose.
He then turned his gaze to Riser, who stood opposite him.
Meanwhile, Ravel reached Rias and Asia.
"Rias-nee, hello." Ravel smiled.
"You seem confident in your brother." Rias smiled back.
"Hmph, I'm here to urge you to surrender. Otherwise, something might happen to such a powerful and promising familiar."
Ravel said proudly, believing Rias would soon become family, making the powerful familiar her servant.
She would make him pay for making her cry and casually holding her. Ravel blushed again.
Hmph… just you wait, you bully. Brother will teach you a lesson!
"Surrender? I should be saying that. It's checkmate, little girl. Watch my 'Pawn's' performance. See how he cuts down the 'King.'" Rias smiled confidently, ignoring Ravel's provocation.
"What did you do to my sister?!" Riser shouted from the rooftop, his anger evident.
"Nothing, just comforting a spoiled little girl." Arthas said nonchalantly.
"Hmph! Don't get cocky after defeating my Queen. I'll show you the true power of the Phenex family's flames!"
Immense flames erupted from Riser's hand, twisting the air with heat. A scorching sensation enveloped Kuoh Academy.
The Phoenix's strongest flames, said to incinerate even dragon scales! Riser would show Arthas that frost from a divine artifact was a joke against the Phoenix's flames!
