The rain had stopped hours ago, but the streets still shone under the pale lamps. A thick mist clung to the edges of the city, crawling over rooftops and alleyways like it didn't want to leave.
Down below the quiet surface, far beneath the noise and light, another world lived — one that most people didn't know existed.
It began with the sound of footsteps. Slow. Careful. A man in a dark coat moved through a narrow underground tunnel. The air was damp and heavy, and water dripped from the pipes above his head.
He carried a small case in one hand, a flickering light in the other. When he reached a rusted metal door, he tapped twice, paused, then tapped once more.
A slot slid open. A pair of eyes stared out, silent.
"Three-four-seven," the man said quietly.
