Synopsis
The human race is at war with the vicious Dalki and when they needed help more than ever, they started to come forward. Humans who were hidden in the shadows for hundreds of years, people with unique abilities. Some chose to share their knowledge to the rest of the world in hopes of winning the war, while others kept their abilities to themselves and their family. Ken’s family was one of the families that kept their abilities to themselves. The Talen family ability was named The Shadows. They could control and manipulate their shadows into various forms such as shadow weapons or even create a small portal out of shadows which they could then use transport themselves through very short distances or use it to attack. When Ken was born the Talen family were shocked at Ken’s unique appearance. He was born with white wavy hair that was swept to the side and beautiful cyan eyes. The Talen family upon seeing him thought he would be one of the strongest members of their family and could possibly even lead them. As Ken grew older the Talen’s started to train and teach him how to use The Shadows ability. Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months but Ken had made no progress at learning their ability. The Talen’s thought that Ken may have chosen to learn another ability but after secretly monitoring him for a few days and checking his room thoroughly to make sure he had no hidden ability book. As time passes that thought has been proven false. Eventually the Talen’s came to a conclusion that due to Ken’s unique appearance that separates him from the rest of the family. Ken might have his own original ability. Years passed but Ken still hadn’t shown signs of having an original ability until he was 14 but by then he was already considered a failure and disgrace among the family. The Talen’s looked down on him in disgust. Ken was mistreated by his family members. The Talen’s eventually sent him away into a small apartment and sent him 1000 credits every month to help him pay for food and necessities. They also paid the rent of the apartment they sent him to every month. “It's time I step out of the shadows.”

Chapter 1 - Hours Before Military School

"Try to not die by tripping over yourself, Ken!" A boy shouted down the hallway, laughing. Ken ignored the petty mockery as he continued on walking down the school corridor. The harassment and mockery had become a daily occurrence for him, but it still bothered him deeply. Ken slowed down his stride and stopped. He then turned around and immediately responded to the slander "That's why your girlfriend cheated on you!!!" Ken yelled out

Upon hearing that, the boy clenched his fist and started running towards Ken.

"Don't you dare talk to me like that, you weak piece of crap!! Your levels were so weak your parents decided that you're a goddamn failure!! You can't even learn your own family's original ability!! When are you going to learn that you don't belong in this world? I swear why do we even keep you level 1's alive in the first place"

The boy placed both of his hands together as water started to form around his hand and condensed into a small ball of water. When he was only a few meters away from Ken, he threw his hands forward and a small ball of condensed water was shot out from his hands. Ken tried to dodge the ball of water but it was too fast for him to dodge. As the ball hit him, his body was lifted up into the air and was sent flying backwards onto the far-end corridor wall.

"What's going on!?" a student yelled out. "Are they fighting on the last day of school?!" A crowd had immediately formed outside chanting "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!", interested in what the commotion was all about. One of the students ran over to the damaged wall to check on the assaulted student's safety. As the dust slowly started to settle down, Ken's white wavy hair slowly came into view. When the dust eventually cleared up, the student could finally see who it was. He immediately backed away and walked off like nothing ever happened. The moment the male student had returned to his homeboys, he could see that they were chuckling in amusement. "Look at you, you seriously tried helping him man?"

"I didn't see who it was," The male student retorted as he rolled his eyes in annoyance.

After that, Ken slowly stood up and sighed "I seriously need to get stronger or else I'm going to get tormented at Military School." It was the last day of school for Ken, so he had maybe hoped that no one would try anything on him. He was tired of doing their doings, but he wasn't the type to ignore those either. He had seen other people choose to keep their heads down and tolerate such harassment. However, the treatment he received was far worse.

Ken proceeded to leave the school. As he walked past, he saw the students having conversations among themselves in their circles. Many were laughing, some were crying, thinking it was their last time seeing each other. However, Ken was all alone, he didn't want to be alone but he guessed that was his destiny. Ken was quite attractive for a guy due to his unique appearance. He had many admirers until they found out he was weak; they immediately stopped admiring him for his beauty but now look at him in disgust. Groups would not dare to welcome him into their group.

When he finally arrived home, he immediately flopped onto his bed and closed his eyes. He was living in a single bedroom apartment which was spacious enough to fit a single bed and a desktop. The apartment was provided to him by his family who had an original ability. As Ken laid down on his bed he immediately began to focus on controlling his energy. "If I want to excel at Military School I need to improve my ability" Ken thought.

Ken immediately opened his eyes and got up off his bed then sat in the middle of the room in a meditative position. Ken closed his eyes and started to concentrate on the flow of his energy. 'Currently, I can only enhance one part of my body with energy..' Ken thought. 'Maybe if I learn how to control my energy better and improve the strength of my energy I could possibly learn to shoot out projectiles and maybe even heal myself.' A small grin started to creep on Ken's face, just the thought of improving his ability was already making him excited.

Hours passed as Ken continued to mediate and improve his control over his ability. Suddenly a loud knock from the door startled him, interrupting his meditative state. Ken opened his eyes and quickly got up off the floor. He did a quick stretch to relieve some of the tension from his muscles. The knock came again. There was only one group of people that would knock like that, the real soldiers.

Ken walked toward his bed and grabbed the suitcase which was already filled with all the things that he'll be needing at his stay in Military School. "I'm coming!!" Ken yelled out as he walked towards the door with his suitcase in his hand. As Ken opened the door standing in front of him was a tall, muscular man with black curly hair, sharp facial features and piercing green eyes. He was wearing a blue military uniform, signifying the water attribute. There were several medals on his garment. His name was written on the area of the uniform right above his chest - 'Staff Sergeant Jake.'

"It's time for you to head to Military School. The vehicle is already waiting for you outside." Jake announced.
