Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Can You Lend Me Some Money?

The man's pleasant voice exploded in Bella Green's mind, throwing her heart into complete chaos.

Clinging tightly to the car door, she never expected that in this life, she would meet Mason Bennett so soon, and under such circumstances.

"No, I don't know him." A soft, hoarse voice with a slight tremor echoed inside the car.

Watching the girl lower her head timidly and inch towards the car door, Mason's eyes narrowed slightly, with the corners slightly raised.

This little creature inexplicably reminded him of the little puppy he had as a child, timid and pitiful-looking.

Throughout the journey, Mason didn't speak again.

Yet Bella Green still couldn't calm down, her gaze drifting outside the window, trying hard to ignore the man beside her with an overwhelming presence.

Why, in the previous life, they didn't meet at this point in time, she thought, suddenly stunned, recalling that in the previous life, when she was discharged, she also took the bus home, but didn't take the wrong direction or miss her stop.

She lowered her eyes; it must have been because of her own reasons that such a deviation occurred.

She had resolved not to get involved with him any longer in this life. That man was a lofty prince, noble beyond measure; encountering her would be the beginning of a disaster.

If possible, she would never want to meet Mason Bennett in this lifetime; she was a bane, naturally meant to bring disaster to him. It's better to stay far away...much better...

Just as she was thinking this, a dull pain struck her forehead. Bella Green hissed and turned her head, only to see the man beside her looking at her with a thin chill in his eyes.

Looking at the face so familiar to her very bones, Bella's body stiffened, even forgetting to breathe.

"Get out." As soon as the words fell, the man had already stepped out of the car.

Rubbing her slightly aching forehead, Bella got out of the car. This man, why hit her just for getting out?

She didn't know, after the car stopped, Mason called her several times with no response, couldn't help but flick her forehead like he used to tease that little puppy.

That familiar feeling slightly brightened Mason's mood, which had been gloomy all day.

Staring at the Brocade City Grand Hotel in front of her, Bella suddenly froze, subconsciously turning to look at the man beside her.

Being stared at by those damp apricot eyes, Mason's voice was slightly cool: "This is downtown."

Bella's face flushed a bright red. Yes, they had already reached downtown; was she really going to ask him to take her home?

They were no longer husband and wife...

Standing still, Bella watched the man's retreating back, her eyes reddening, the tip of her nose stinging fiercely.

Even though she had been forcing herself not to think about him these past days, at this moment, the image of the man recklessly throwing himself over before the explosion overlapped with the figure before her, those memories surged back like tidal waves.

Tearing her heart apart.

Just as Mason was about to enter the hotel doors, he seemed to feel something, suddenly looking back, only to see that thin, pitiful little figure standing by the roadside, looking at him with those damp apricot eyes.

Like an abandoned puppy, pitiful and forlorn. If there was a sign on its chest reading "seeking adoption," it would be even more vivid.

Once again disturbed by this little creature in front of him, Mason was somewhat displeased, his brows and eyes turning cold and severe, his gaze deep and unfathomable.

Not expecting him to suddenly turn around, Bella was startled, blinking her eyes back against the tears.

Awkwardly tugging at her lips, her mind suddenly drew a blank, blurting out, "Can you lend me some money?"

As soon as the words left her mouth, Bella wished she could slap herself. What nonsense was she spouting?

Mason's brow furrowed slightly, his gaze taking in the 'youngster' in white shirt and jeans, with no pockets, empty-handed, without a phone or wallet.

It dawned on him; she seemed to have mentioned earlier that she'd been mugged?

Initially intending to ignore it, yet looking at the young 'deer in headlights' eyes, inexplicably, he found himself turning back around and walking towards Bella Green.

"O-one hundred would do," Bella stammered, watching the man approach, dryly speaking.

Just as Mason was about to say something, a loud rumble interrupted him...

Four eyes met, an enormous embarrassment drifted across Bella's face.

Her little face turned pale, then red, then black.
