Chapter 75 - C075 : Crashing Denatus

Running through the streets, Shurry followed the faint scent that Hathor, like everyone, left behind. His nose worked overtime to really sniff out the different interlaced scents. Mommy, where are you? He continued, sniffing running as he did.

Eventually, the place Shurry found himself at again was the giant tower in the center of the city. He had paused his running to readjust his nose, the smells of the city were rather intense, after all, there were hundreds of thousands of people, and then the restaurants… Then, his ears twitched, once the scent grew strong enough for him to truly pinpoint the exact path. He took off running, following the stairs through the tower.

"Hey kid, wait!" … "huh? Damn he's fast."

"What was that blur just now?"

"It was a kid. But that's all I could make out."

"I see, let's make a report."

Soon Shurry had climbed floor after floor, 30 floors up, and arrived at a rather ridiculously grand door. "Hmm? The scent goes through here?" Shurry tilted his head, and then started to push on the oversized door.

Inside the Denatus, the gathered deities were in the middle of their bickering, when a young werewolf entered the room. Some of the gods noticed him, but others were too into getting good names for their children to care about noticing. Then-

"Mommy!" Shurry ran over, jumping up and latching onto Hathor with a big and cuddly hug. "I found you!"

The gods, having never seen this sort of thing happen, ever, couldn't help but become instantly interested in what was happening. Some started murmuring about the cutie in Hathor's arms.

"Shurry, you guys came back already? Wait, why are you here?" Hathor asked, surprised, and incredibly curious.

"I'll always find you! I'm invincible at hide & seek!" Shurry declared with childish grandeur. "I also wanted to give you these good things! They're soo yummy!" He added taking the tied wrap off, opening it on the table to reveal Mruits.

"You came all this way to bring me these?"

"No? I came to see you! These are just extras." Shurry smiled, wagging his tail with gusto.

"That sure is an interesting child you've got there Hathor."

"To think he'd interrupt the Denatus just to see you."

Shurry instantly became confused. "Was it… Bad, that I came here?"

Hathor giggled, and wrapped Shurry into her arms. "No, it's unusual, but it's fine. I'm glad you're safe. Did you have fun on the trip?" She asked, picking up one of the Mruits.

"Yeah! It was lots of fun! Lots and lots of prey!" Shurry cheered, wagging his tail off to one side.

"That's good. You can tell me all about it later, don't want to get too detailed with all of the others listening in. But, give them a treat, what was the best part of the trip?"

Shurry didn't even think about his answer. "Coming home to see you, mommy!"

"And what was the next best thing?"

"Bringing back the tree, but I could have had two of them if unccy didn't break it. So he's bringing another one as punishment, Aunty scolded him, and he ran off."

There was then a powerful clap. "Alright let's get this meeting back on track."

"I want a better name than this! Come on guys, really? Pointy guy seven? That's beyond cringe!"

"Shut up, if you want something better, then have them level up with something more impressive."

As this was ongoing, Hathor and Shurry ate the Mruits with a great degree of enthusiasm. "Mommy, what's the other name thingy?"

"It's just a form of honor we give to those who level up."

"Why?"

"It's to signify their accomplishment. It is actually quite difficult for the children to level up."

This comment caused Shurry's ears to flick a few times. And then he tilted his head to the side. "I'd heard that it was hard before, but shouldn't it be easy in Orario? The dungeon is here." Hathor giggled, and whispered into Shurry's ear. "Oh!!! So, what about me? When will I get one of these weird name thingys?" He asked, munching away.

"Once you level up, at that time, I'll push for it with everything I've got, it'll be a good one. Definitely none of those embarrassing ones, or ones lacking imagination."

"Yay!" Shurry smiled.

…

The Denatus finally came to an end, and after many left, Ganesha came to Hathor. "I AM GANESHA!!!"

"What do you want now, Ganesha? Can't you see I'm busy with my precious child."

"He's quite the light for you, good. Haha, a few of my familia members came back with some pretty bad injuries-"

"You want him to heal them?"

"Yeah, the other healers in the city are demanding truly insane prices and well, my familia fund is rather low at the moment."

"It's that gigantic statue you made. Why should I fix your problems?"

Shurry looked at Ganesha who'd practically turned into a pleading cry baby. "Um, mommy. They do lot's of monster taming right?"

"That's right, why?"

"Well, I wanted to ask him about something that happened in the dungeon. Unccy Maxy didn't know about monster taming…"

"So you want to ask about that?" Hathor sighed, then smiled. "Alright, Ganesha, my boy here says he's willing to take a look. Let's get this over with as soon as possible."

"Haha! Thank you, young Shurry! I GANESHA! Will not forget this!" And then looked at the Mruits.

"No Mruits for you!" Shurry quickly interrupted the thought before it became action. "These are for mommy and I to share!"

"Huh… Ahahaha! Good, you're a good child."

And so, the three of them left the Denatus room, meeting up with a member from Ganesha's familia.

"Lord Ganesha, we've posted the guild request-"

"No need! I got the one I wanted now! Let's go!"

…

It took a little while to walk back to the Ganesha familia home, but once they arrived, and entered the room where the injured were, it was clear why they were having so much trouble. Their healers had already been exhausted, just keeping everyone alive, but the toxin wasn't going away. And in the one corner of the room, there was a little girl, not much younger than Shurry, crying, over what the expected outcome might be. There was another, much older young woman there, clearly doing her best to remain strong for her little sister.
