With constant ongoing battles, and a decent rotation in place, the aid of the wolves and other canine monsters, not to mention the additional help from the werewolves who suddenly gained a substantial buff…
"How did they beastify if there's not even a shred of moonlight? Let alone the moon, and forget about a full moon. We're approaching the new moon right now, right?"
Finn was practically chewing on his thumb. Even while broken, it still quivered.
"I'm not sure if there are any answers to those questions. I'm surprised it's possible, but the facts are undeniable."
"Anakitty, have you heard any legends about werewolves? Ones spread among cat people? Anything, even the smallest detail."
"The legends I've always heard of told us to never go near them, they were dangerous, and powerful. Even more so under the full moon."
"What about you Raul?"
Raul thought for a moment. "I-" He started, but was stopped by his own thoughts. "I do remember one story, it mentioned something about how the alphas could transform on their own, as if they carried the moon with them."
"That's it. Then, Origin Wolf, is close enough to have such an effect?" Finn said with an inquisitive expression. "As much as I may not like this, we're going to need to rely on him for this one. I've got a feeling if we don't, we'll all die in a useless struggle."
"Huh?"
"Sorry, try to forget I said that, I'm a little stressed at the moment. And said something useless. I wish Loki would just tell me what she knows about him."
Loki returned, hearing Finn's words, and snickered. "Sorry Finn, but even if I told you everything, it wouldn't help you understand. I'm not even sure my thoughts are accurate either. But she might have a better answer."
A woman wearing a rather revealing dress, barely covering more than an amazoness, and accentuating her perfect figure… walked into the central plaza with a purposeful stride. She locked eyes with Loki for a moment, and sighed.
"Freya!"
"Can you keep it down, I already heard enough shouting trying to convince my familia to guard me on the way here."
"Awe, don't be like that, you're going to be turning heads looking like that. So why are you here now?"
"I got bored, and I wanted to ask, if you knew why that happened."
"You have a good idea about why, don't you?"
"Of course, that doesn't mean confirmation of something like this isn't a good idea." Freya sighed, a member of her familia poured her a glass of wine. She took a sip. "If it's true, I may really be in danger this time. Do you think Hathor knows?"
"Oh, without a doubt, she knows. But good luck getting the answer out of her. She can directly communicate with gods still in Tenkai with that freaky natural ability of hers. No way she hasn't confirmed it already. Matter of fact, Ra, Hades, and Odin are probably waiting to give Erebus a… grand welcome home."
"Pfft, that'd be funny to see happen. So, what do you think, Ouranos, should I risk summoning my armor?"
"Do you think it would be enough?"
"Depends."
"Then no. I forbid it. Trust in that power."
"Fine, but don't say I didn't warn you, if things go bad."
With a brief moment of silence, Finn finally got his chance to ask. "Lady Freya, if I may ask, what exactly is this power you believe Origin Wolf has?"
"Oh? So you haven't been told then? Loki, you think he won't understand?"
"You remember what that thing's full power was. You expect him to understand that?"
"Fair point… Finn, you'll probably see soon enough on your own. In simple terms, that title we all settled on last time, it wasn't just for show."
Freya finished speaking, then walked over to a place where the other gods waited. Finn wasn't satisfied with the answer, however, he couldn't just demand more from Freya. Loki had been hesitant to say anything, but at least she didn't purposefully confuse him.
"Just what does that even mean? Is he the origin of wolves? Do wolves originate from him? Is he the source of the transformation?"
"Hehehe, I knew it, we shouldn't have mentioned anything. Just keep the battle steady for now."
"Oh, no need to worry about the south, my children are handling it." Freya added, her voice tickling to the ear. I just want to be a normal woman.
…
Earlier, Loki and Hathor were talking.
"Listen Hathor, I'm going to be straight with you, give me the method that gets your children so strong."
"And I'll be straight with you as well. No."
"Why won't you?"
"You already got the method from them."
"It doesn't work at all. You have something they didn't give us."
"No, we don't."
"Yes, you do!"
"Nope."
"Then what was the deal with that book your son got from Zald? Surely that's the key difference."
"It's nothing special. Well, not to anyone except for him."
"How are you going to ask me to believe that? You know the stakes right? That dragon still lives, do you really think your son can defeat it on his own?"
"Potentially. I'll have to wait and see what happens."
"There's more to it! He's going to need help."
"He already has plenty of people who've committed to helping. And none of them are from the familias that killed his big brother, and ordered the death of his big sister. You're lucky I didn't send you to Tenkai for that stunt, you and Freya both."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Had Ouranos not pleaded with me to allow your familias to continue living, you'd all be headstones right now. He also made a deal with Ra, one that I can't easily ignore. So, for now, you're safe."
"That's-" Loki was beyond frustrated.
"Just do what you can, don't worry about anything else after that. Your familias aren't going to be at the top very soon enough."
"What do you mean by that?"
"No matter what the guild may say, no one will be able to deny the fact this only happened because the guild sent him down to floor… Well, a really deep floor. Likewise, they'll also know that despite my smaller numbers we saved more lives than both of your familias combined. And that my child will have personally killed the one responsible for all of this."
Loki's eyes widened. "You don't mean?"
"I do."
"But?"
"Oh, don't worry about how, I believe more than ever now, he can do it. Ra has confirmed it from Tenkai. Apparently Hades, and Odin did too."
"That's… Those three could kill anyone. What could have them working together… No, you can't be serious."
Hathor simply smiled, and sipped her tea, and scratched the head of the wolf laying on her lap.
Loki left, with a truly frustrated expression, but corrected it before she left the room.
