Despite their efforts, the dragon's thunder seemed endless. Even after Meda's absolutely devastating spell, the second dungeon just kept on releasing more and more dragons as if it went on forever.
Zald's expression soured, he looked to Bell. "Bell, you thinking what I am?"
"Yes, Uncle. Let the weaker ones through, and find an opportunity to get Big Brother/Uncle involved somehow."
"That'll be difficult, you try to figure out a way, I'll do what I can to hold off the dragons as best I can." Zald jumped right into action to stem the flow. Him and his sword against the horde. "Dinner time."
"Meda, can you cast that again?" Bell asked, both curious and worried… no response… "Huh?"
"You know that's not what you're supposed to call me, you're my bunny hubby. And I'm your…" Meda huffed, crossing her arms.
"Lovely Wifey."
"That's better, and yes, I'll be able to cast it again in an hour."
"We'll have to find a way to let him know…"
Just as they were talking, a bundle of a massive wolf and a gigantic dragon duking it out in a ball of death came through the zone again completely changing the landscape for the third time in a matter of 30 minutes.
Ais lifted her finger a couple breaths later and pointed. "He knows." She said pointing to the place where dozens of magic crystals fell from the sky. Her face glistened with enough sweat that a medical team came and gave her a slightly salty beverage. "Thank you." She drank and the team quickly departed heading for the next location.
"I'll join up with Zald, and let him know that Uncle Shurry knows." Bell said, now with a bit more energy. He focused his gaze, and pounced away to fight some more.
…
"Damn it! These dragons sure are fast!"
"Stop your complaining. We have to intercept them before they cause any major damage."
"Huh? But, there's a village right there!"
"SPEED UP THEN!"
Alraj jumped over to join the two runners. "Hey there, wanna catch that thing?"
"Yes!"
"Awesome, let's go!" Alraj gave them a reupping on the blessing type buff he'd handed out earlier…
The two adventurers sped up, and began combat, just before the dragon came into contact with the village. Alraj smirked, and then bounded off to the next group of adventurers. He knew that if he participated directly, he'd be using arcanum to attack. Buffs were one thing, but attack was out of the question.
"I sure do hope that Maxim and the others know about that before they arrive. Sure would be nice if I wasn't the only buffer out here." He mused, as he gave his buff out to another group.
…
Rakia, the capital city was under martial law, civilians were to remain inside. Soldiers and mages were posted all around to guard… Well, to put up what little resistance they could manage before powerful adventurers could arrive to slay whatever came their way.
One man with a cross bow and collapsible scope sat perched on the highest point of the castle. Then, an overwhelming sense of dread came over him, he turned to see it, clear as day, hundreds of dragons managed to arrive. "Shit! They're coming!"
"How many of them?!"
"Hundreds!"
The man in charge of sending the signal picked his ear. "Sorry? I thought you said hundreds…"
"I-I-I-I d-d-d-did…" A look of sunken horror filled the place where a face had once been.
"Just what the hell are those adventurers fighting? It's no wonder the Zeus and Hera familia were destroyed so easily… They stood against destruction incarnate!"
"Enough! Send the signal to the warriors!"
"Oh! Right!"
The people who received the signal gulped, and their commander, the prince of the nation, Marius gave the man a look.
"My Prince… hundreds are on their way."
The prince, credit to his composure, didn't betray him, keeping his emotions hidden well enough. He gave a nod and turned.
"Lightning Mages, prepare your spells at once! Fire mages prepare counters for the dragon's breath. Water mages prepare cooling barriers. Earth mages on standby!"
""Yes your highness!""
"Marius, who told you to give orders like that!" Ares scolded.
"You'd cower, and my father is in the corner." Marius retorted.
"But this is…" Ares then focused on what was coming for Rakia. "Destruction incarnate has arrived, now then where's the one with one eye?"
"THERE ISN'T ONE!" Marius shouted, his top finally broken thanks to an overly energetic, and stupid god. "Remember, Origin Wolf is engaged in single combat with it as we speak."
"HOLD!" Marius commanded. "HOLD!!!" He said again as he straightened his back, drawing his saber… He held it high… "Lightning Mages, now!"
Despite the disparity of their forces, and their insistence on being knights, the dozens of mages fired their spells. Dust clouds formed upon the impacts, creating a smokescreen for the dragons to hide in… it doubled to obscure the results.
They got lucky, one dragon was hit with several separate spells and fell from the sky, turning to dust… it was about Lv4 in strength, all thanks to the Moonlight heavily reducing its strength. Or so they thought…
What actually happened was the leader of this little group of dragons tore through a disobedient dragon. This made it look like the attack had succeeded. The soldiers of Rakia cheered with success, and eagerly began preparing to continue fighting, the leader dragon smirked with malicious intent.
"Fire the catapults!"
"FIRING!!!"
Giant stones launched into the air, hitting right through the smoke cloud. Only to do nothing… Well, it did irritate the dragons quite a bit, but that was all. They all roared in unison, clearing the skies of smoke and glared. It was a cold, deadly glare.
"Marius, I think this might be the end. We don't have the means…"
"KEEP FIRING! HOLD OUT UNTIL HELP ARRIVES!"
The firing continued, and the dragons began to scatter.
"Hmm, not bad, kid. I'll help you now." A voice rang out.
"Who said that?"
"I did." The voice said with a pervish chuckle. "CATASTROPHE!"
Suddenly the dragons were caught in a chaotic storm causing their eyes to spin from the dizziness.
"Ah, it feels so much better to get this vengeance than I thought it would, neat. It makes all that insane training worth it." He said stretching as the wind seemed to love being around him.
