Chapter 227 - Tang San Goes Mad

Despite the regret and despair in his heart, Tang San still raised his right hand. Soul power surged from his palm as he activated Qinlong Konghe, trying to pull the Longxuzhen out of his body.

Even if he died, he wouldn't sit and wait for it.

Suddenly, he remembered the scene when Ao Tian killed someone outside Star Dou Forest—cold-blooded, emotionless, not a ripple on his face.

Tang San silently prayed, hoping Ao Tian would remember their days as classmates and spare his life.

He no longer cared about those immortal herbs. He only wanted to survive.

He really couldn't bear to leave this world. Here, he had his father and a teacher who cherished him. This world was far warmer than his previous one. He didn't want to go.

How could Ao Tian possibly watch him pull the hidden weapon out of his body?

If Tang San recovered, who knew if this guy would try to ambush him again.

After all, Tang San knew the effects of these herbs. Eating one could stabilize the foundation, strengthen the body, and skyrocket one's cultivation. Treasures that could change a person's entire life—who wouldn't want them?

Seeing Tang San about to pull out the Longxuzhen, Ao Tian took one step and appeared directly in front of him, grabbing Tang San's raised right hand.

He lightly squeezed.

Crack.

The bones of Tang San's hand and forearm shattered.

Tang San let out a muffled groan. Endless pain flooded in, draining the color from his face as bean-sized beads of sweat broke out rapidly.

Ao Tian didn't stop. He grabbed Tang San's left hand and twisted lightly—another crack sounded.

This time, Tang San couldn't endure it anymore. The pain from the Longxuzhen combined with the agony of shattered bones finally broke him, and he cried out miserably.

Ao Tian raised his leg and kicked forward, hitting Tang San's calf—another shattering sound.

Tang San could no longer stand and collapsed to his knees before Ao Tian.

"Ao Tian, you… hiss…" Tang San's eyes burned with fury as he glared at Ao Tian, wanting to speak but reduced to sucking in cold breaths from the pain.

Kneeling was far too humiliating. His pride refused to let him kneel to an enemy.

However, when he tried to stand, his legs no longer had the strength.

Helpless, he could only sit down. Though pathetic, at least it preserved a shred of dignity.

A disciple of Tang Sect must never die on his knees!

Only now did Tang San finally start to adapt to the intense pain.

He forced a cold smile onto his face and mocked, "Ao Tian, if you want to kill me, then kill me. Why bother torturing me like this?"

"Torture you?" Ao Tian laughed. "You're thinking too highly of yourself. I'm only worried that if you pull out the Longxuzhen, you'll try to sneak attack me again. I still need to pick herbs; I don't have the energy to keep watching you. So I had to cripple you."

Tang San froze for a moment and pressed, "So you're not planning to kill me?"

Ao Tian shook his head and smiled. "You staying alive is more interesting for me."

A trace of joy rose in Tang San's heart. As long as he could live, there was still hope.

If one can live, who would choose death?

Ao Tian didn't waste more breath. He bent down, grabbed Tang San's chest collar, and said mildly, "Go sit quietly on the side."

Saying so, he prepared to throw Tang San toward the edge of the valley.

But at that moment—buzz—a crossbow bolt shot out from inside Tang San's collar, firing upward, straight toward Ao Tian's chin.

Ao Tian was currently grabbing Tang San, and the distance was extremely close. At this range, and with the sudden shot, even a Title Douluo might not have reacted in time.

It was precisely because of this that Tang San chose to strike again without hesitation.

He had made one attempt earlier; this time he was even more resolute, even more confident.

At such close distance, he concluded Ao Tian absolutely wouldn't be able to react. That energy barrier of Ao Tian's was terrifying, but it still needed to be activated.

"You thought I had lost the ability to resist, but you didn't know that I can trigger the miniature crossbow hidden in my chest with just a flex of my pectoral muscles. Ao Tian… farewell." Tang San's eyes turned cold as he stared upward at Ao Tian.

Swish—

A faint friction sound rang out as Ao Tian slightly lowered his head, opened his mouth, and his rows of white teeth bit down on the short bolt.

Tang San's heart tightened. In his expectation, the bolt would pierce Ao Tian's chin and shoot out the top of his head.

But now, Ao Tian actually bit the bolt mid-flight—what kind of monstrous reaction speed was this?

Seeing Ao Tian's gaze turning colder, Tang San's heart suddenly trembled violently.

Then—crack—a subtle sound came. It was faint, but both of them heard it.

The bolt's arrowhead opened like a blooming flower inside Ao Tian's mouth. A jet of poison shot out and entered Ao Tian's stomach.

Tang San let out a heavy breath, feeling a moment of relief. Ao Tian still fell for it.

The poison inside the arrowhead was extracted from the Bazhūmáo. Its toxicity was so fierce that even a Soul Ancestor couldn't resist it.

Back in the arena, the nearly level-40 Yu Tianheng and the Shi brothers had lost all ability to resist the moment they were poisoned by the Bazhūmáo. It showed just how terrifying this toxin was.

Ao Tian being poisoned meant death—there was no way he could survive.

Once Ao Tian died, everything here would still belong to Tang San.

Though his limbs were crippled and his body struck by hidden weapons, he only needed to endure for one day. Dugu Bo would come, and then he would be saved.

At worst, he'd lose a few pieces of flesh. As long as he could secure all these herbs, everything was worth it.

Many thoughts flashed rapidly through Tang San's mind. He stared fixedly at Ao Tian, guarding against his final counterattack.

But he didn't know that the moment the poison entered Ao Tian's body, it was instantly refined into nothing.

Ao Tian didn't fear such minor toxins, but he also didn't like dirtying his body.

Ao Tian released his bite, letting the short bolt fall to the ground. His expression remained unchanged as he said, "Truly stubborn to the end. This is your little trick?"

Tang San could no longer remain calm. His heart trembled violently.

How could Ao Tian still be unharmed?

Ao Tian didn't bother with him anymore. With a casual flick, Tang San's body shot toward the edge of the valley.

Bang! Tang San slammed into the cliff wall, blood spraying everywhere. When he hit the ground, his expression was already extremely withered.

"How… how is this possible… impossible…" Tang San muttered, blood continuously leaking from his lips, unable to accept the reality.

In the distance, Ao Tian had already begun sweeping up the spirit herbs.

He didn't have Tang San's many scruples. What metal tools to harvest with, what jade tools to use—too troublesome.

Ao Tian simply covered his hands in pure spiritual qi, picked the herbs, sealed them immediately, and tossed them into his own world.

Seeing the Bajiaoxuanbingcao and Lihuo Xingjiaoshu being picked by Ao Tian, Tang San's heart nearly shattered.

Youxiang Qiluoxianpin, Qirong Tongtianju, Qiluo Yujinxiang, Xiangsi Duanchanghong… all the immortal herbs he treasured were being swept away by Ao Tian.

Watching this scene, blood filled Tang San's eyes. Endless fury hammered at his skull, driving him nearly insane.

He was so stimulated that his mind was losing clarity. Moments ago he still hoped Ao Tian wouldn't recognize the extremely poisonous immortal herbs… hoped Ao Tian would die beside them.

But Ao Tian ignored the deadly toxins entirely and swept everything up violently.

"Wasting heaven's treasures! Wasting heaven's treasures!" Tang San roared inside, furious yet filled with boundless regret.

In his view, harvesting those immortal herbs so crudely meant they were ruined—their medicinal effects lost by most of it.

Thus his hatred toward Ao Tian grew even stronger.

Totally ignorant, yet still ruining these immortal herbs. This was simply intolerable.

Tang San's heart felt like it was bleeding.
