Chapter 2 - Lyra’s diary

Chapter 2- Lyra's diary

Lisa POV

To my surprise, the dog climbed on my body as I touched and played with it. I felt happy at the fact that this loyal companion has been a constant source of comfort and love to Lyra.

I saw a name tag around his neck so I called his name, "Blue, how have you been my baby. Did you miss me?" I said smiling as he also jumped on my body.

I laughed, feeling a deep connection to this animal, who genuinely cared and loved Lyra.

"Here, take Blue back to his cage" I said, as I gave him to one of the guards.

As I handed Blue over to the guards, I couldn't help but notice the disappointed looks on Julian's and his family's faces.

I looked at Georgina and judging by her looks, I knew she was my mother in law.

"Mom, did you miss me?" I said as I tried approaching her with my arms spread wide open for a hug.

Georgina moved back and shouted, "Stay away from me, you're dead!"

I wasn't in the mood to watch any more drama, so I just walked past her and entered the house.

The house was so big and magnificent with many rooms that I could easily get lost.

I knew I had to be careful because if I made one wrong turn, I might get caught.

I called out to a maid, "Here, please take it to my room".

"Okay ma" she replied.

I carefully followed her as she led me to my room. "Thank you" I said in a low voice.

As I entered the room, I noticed how gloomy and dull the room looked. It looked empty and lifeless, making me wonder what really happened to Lyra.

I saw her frame on the wall, I climbed a chair, my hands trembling as I reached out to it.

I hugged the frame tightly with tears in my eyes, "I'm so sorry for not coming sooner".

I cleaned my tears, "But I'm here now. And I will find out what really happened to you and the cause of your death".

I went to the table in the room and saw books all over the desk. I was not surprised because Lyra has always loved to read and write since we were little.

I looked through the books and saw a small green diary. I was curious and decided to open it.

As I opened it, I recognized Lyra's handwriting in the first page which stated, "My diary".

I opened the second page, my eyes scanning through for clues of how Lyra's life was in this house.

As I read it, my eyes widened in shock and disbelief.

"I hate the life I'm living. I'm too weak to fight or defend myself so how can I bring a child to face this cruel world with a weak mother like me".

Tears rolled down my eyes but I continued reading, "If I'm opportuned to be reborn into this cruel world again, I will revenge on those who hurt me and my unborn baby.

Julian

Evelyn and

Georgina, my mother in law have been so wicked to me and are responsible for the loss of my baby".

I stopped reading and started crying uncontrollably. I knew Julian and his family were not who they claimed to be.

And beneath their fake smiles, there was something evil but I never knew it could be this bad to the extent of killing their unborn child.

I summoned the courage to keep reading, to find out more.

"I appreciate the two people who have genuinely cared and loved me. They gave a little ray of light in the midst of my suffocating darkness.

And a reason to keep fighting and push on but to be honest, I don't think I can. I'm getting too weak and the struggles are take a toll on me, I'm not sure of how much longer I can keep fighting.

Harrison, my brother in law has been a loving brother to me. He has always supported and fought for me against his own brother.

Charlotte my best friend has also been more like a sister to me. She has always loved and supported me.

Most times, she reminds me of my sister who I have not seen or been in contact with for years now. But I always believed that someday our paths will cross again and I wish I'm alive for that to come through.

I still remember that fateful day, it haunts me every night for not being able to protect my baby from this monster, I call a husband.

I looked pale and weak because my husband invited his mistress over and told me to sleep outside in the cold.

I always knew my husband had a mistress, but I just didn't know who. I will never see her face whenever she comes to the house, sometimes I get locked up in the kitchen all night till she is gone.

Sometimes, Julian will send me out of the house not minding whether it is raining or not without a blanket to cover myself.

I always looked pathetic in the eyes of my maids. They even lived a better life than me, at least they had where to lay their heads comfortably but I didn't.

I can't even look or admire myself in the mirror anymore.

I hate the sight of myself for being miserable and worthless. I lived like a maid in my own house with torn and dirty rags I wore as clothes.

I stood waiting patiently for the result, I was so scared at what the result will turn out to be.

Julian and Evelyn looked at me with a firece intensity, their eyes scanning my whole body.

My hands and legs trembled while I said a little prayer in my head, hoping for a good outcome.

Finally, the doctor announced the result.
