"What happened, Avy?! Why are you behaving as if I'm your natural enemy?!" Elias managed to get his words out, his voice a little higher than normal as he fought against the elbow she had stuck in his neck.
He was half pinned against the seat, half attempting to maintain his dignity under her piercing glare. Her elbow was pushing just hard enough to render him short of breath.
Avery rolled her eyes, tossing her hair back in a dramatic gesture as if she couldn't get over how stupid her brother was. "Did you leave your brain in the house this morning?!?" she exclaimed, bending in close, showing a fierce sparkle in her eye. "If you go out there and people ask, how am I going to explain that my brother is Elias Vale?!"
She almost screamed in his face, and Elias stood still in the midst of struggle as the realization slapped him across the face. Oh. Right.
