And as they were speaking, the demons entered and Gedeon stayed back to hold the demons off, giving Jason and Alexander some bags with a briefcase that would only open when they are ready. So Alexander and Jason drove off.
As they were driving, they saw a huge light going up to the sky from the warehouse they just left.
ALEXANDER:
"We need to go home. There are some things I need to carry."
JASON:
"Are you crazy? Who am I kidding—you are crazy. You want us to go home? That place will be crawling with demons looking for us!"
ALEXANDER:
"We have to go. We need to get our passports, our ID… and some cash."
JASON:
"Where are we going to get the cash from?"
ALEXANDER:
"I got 200 thousand dollars buried under my bed."
JASON:
"200 thousand dollars?! How the fuck did you get that?!"
ALEXANDER:
"I have my ways. I've been working many jobs."
The brothers went back home and got the stuff they came for. Then they left and stayed at a hotel.
MEANWHILE…
At the hospital, one of the brothers' sisters—Venessa—woke up.
VENESSA:
"Where am I? What is going on? Where are my brothers? They are in danger."
NURSE:
"Your brothers got arrested for murder. They tried to kill you and your sisters… and they took your mom."
VENESSA:
"No. It wasn't them. It was something else. Something stronger… and it's trying to kill them."
Venessa left the hospital and went to the police station to look for her brothers. As she got there, she saw that the cops were busy—two criminals had escaped.
She walked in and asked:
VENESSA:
"Umm… I'm looking for Alexander and Jason."
COP1:
"Why are you looking for them? And who are you?"
VENESSA:
"I'm their sister, Venessa. I just woke up from the hospital, and I heard that they got arrested for attempted murder against their family. But they didn't do anything—it was something else that attacked us. Something like… a demon."
COP1:
"Why don't you come and sit down and tell me more. I'll go bring your brothers for you."
But as the cop walked outside to talk to another officer, Venessa overheard him say:
"This family is crazy. We need to call the psychologist to come take her."
Right then, Venessa started feeling a serious headache. Everything around her slowed down—the birds outside, the smallest things moving. She could hear everything, even what the cops were planning.
She didn't wait.
She ran out of the station.
BACK AT THE HOTEL…
Jason and Alexander saw themselves on the news—wanted for the killings that had happened over the last two months.
JASON:
"What are we going to do now that we're wanted?"
ALEXANDER:
"This has gotten out of control. We just need to stay low and not get caught. But we need to check out that factory—that's the last place I lost track of the demon who took Mom."
JASON:
"Easier said than done. If it's the last place you saw the demon, it might still be there. And who knows—there could be more of them out there. We need to think this through."
ALEXANDER:
"Every second Mom is out there, she could be dying or suffering. Don't you want to get her back and save our sisters? We haven't even looked at the bags Gedeon gave us!"
They opened the bags.
Inside were weapons—guns, knives, vials.
And two briefcases that couldn't be opened.
In one bag was a letter. It read:
"Dear Alexander and Jason,
If you're reading this, it means the war that ended 10,000 years ago is about to begin again.
The demons will be coming for you—and anyone close to you.
When the time is right, the briefcase will open.
You must train hard to be strong enough to defeat them.
You will begin developing abilities soon.
Alexander, please… do not repeat what the first Alexander did.
God has sent someone to help you kill the demons.
Until you open that briefcase, you cannot kill the demons. The weapons can only damage them for a while. They regenerate.
But the one God sent—their blood can kill demons.
Find that person. Open the briefcase. Stop the war.
And remember your past life. It will help you in the battle."
Two cross necklaces fell out the back of the letter. One for each of them.
As soon as they picked them up—Alexander collapsed.
He had a vision—unclear, like smoke and starlight.
He heard:
"I will love you in every life."
"I will love you too…"
Jason rushed to help him.
JASON:
"What just happened?! Why did you fall? And what the hell were you saying?"
ALEXANDER:
"What did I say?"
JASON:
"You said something like… 'I will love you in every life.'"
ALEXANDER:
"I don't know. I think I saw something when I picked up the cross… flashes of people. They were in love, I think. But it wasn't in this time. It was… different."
JASON:
"Maybe what you saw was your past life."
ALEXANDER:
"Well, if it was… I need to know more. Who was the girl I loved? What about you—did you see anything about your past life?"
JASON:
"No… Well, I'm going to get some coffee. Want one?"
ALEXANDER:
"Yes. Black. I'll research that factory so we can get Mom back… and wake our sisters."
Jason headed out.
As he reached the parking lot—he collapsed.
Visions burned through his brain.
His past. His betrayal.
He saw a girl telling him to tell Isabelle to follow Alex into the war.
He saw Alexander taking a brutal hit for her—lightning exploding through his body.
He saw himself and the girl playing in a forest, near a waterfall.
He heard:
"I love you."
"I love you too."
He woke up in shock.
JASON (to himself):
"What just happened? Who was Isabelle?
Why did Alexander take that hit for her?
I betrayed him…
He can never know."
He stood up.
JASON (softly):
"I should still get him coffee… maybe a snack too."
