Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Chaos in the city

Satel woke up to the sounds of birds chirping. She wiggled out of the blanket she was wrapped in.

She looked around and saw she was in a massive cave. Satel stood up, packed the blanket and the black coat she had slept with, and shoved them into the bag.

Satel looked toward the mouth of the cave and saw Shin sitting in front of a fire, cooking meat on sticks next to the carcass of a large creature.

Satel walked toward him and stood next to him.

"Oh. Good morning, Satel," Shin said, not looking away from the fire. "I made breakfast."

Satel stayed silent. She walked around Shin and sat on the log next to him, staring blankly into the fire, her eyes lifeless.

Shin handed her a piece of meat on a stick. He got up and walked toward the Brire Bear he had killed.

Satel looked around and saw multiple creatures dead on the ground. There were roughly fifty in number, excluding the Brire Bear.

Satel raised her hand toward the bear as a surge of green mana flowed from her.

Satel spoke, "Dark Magic: Tier 6: Re-animation."

The bear stood up as its fur turned green. It turned its body toward Satel. A magic circle appeared beneath it as it slowly descended out of sight.

The circle then disappeared along with the bear. Satel sighed and took a bite of her food.

"Bland," Satel said, spitting it out and tossing it aside.

"What did you expect? We're in the woods," Shin said in an annoyed voice.

Shin walked toward her and took the bag. He rummaged inside and pulled out the black coat.

He tossed the bag to Satel and put on the black coat.

"Wear the clothes inside and let's go get something decent to eat," Shin said in a cold tone.

Satel looked up at him, took the bag, and pulled out a green T-shirt and black pants. Satel stood up, walked into the cave, and got dressed.

She walked out, and the two of them walked into the forest. They walked for two hours and finally reached the road.

They stood there for a while until a taxi came and they got inside. The taxi drove for a few minutes and finally reached a city.

They got off and Shin paid with some of the money he had found.

"Well... it's been a long time since I've been in the city," Shin said, breaking the silence between them.

Satel remained silent and just walked. Shin followed closely behind. The pair found a ramen shop nearby and went inside.

Shin ordered two bowls of Shoyu ramen. They ate the ramen and paid for their meal.

"Hey Satel. Are you going to keep ignoring me or have you finally thought of something?" Shin asked, looking at Satel.

Satel turned to look at Shin. Her face was blank and unreadable. Shin tensed a bit and looked to the side.

"Yeah," she sighed, "we're going back home."

Shin paused and looked at her. "And how do we get past the border without being found?" he asked, confused.

Satel smiled at Shin.

"Well... for one, we can hide ourselves and just get to international waters," she responded, still grinning.

Shin still felt uneasy. "What's the second option?" he asked, unease lacing his voice.

"We cause chaos and teleport to the other side of the city," she finally responded.

Shin gave Satel a worried look as she stood up and walked outside.

A large magic circle appeared in the middle of the street and caused traffic to back up. Many people got out of their cars and screamed at Satel.

Satel smiled as she spoke out, "Come forth... Brire Bear."
