From the magic circle, a massive paw the size of a small truck emerged. It forced the circle to open wider as the whole arm emerged.
The people nearby screamed in terror and ran away from the scene, leaving their cars and jobs behind.
In the ramen shop, Shin got up as the black liquid seeped out of his face and formed his mask.
Shin ran into the back and grabbed two employees as others ran out the back. He followed them and got them to a safer place.
When he turned back, he was horrified to see the briar bear he had killed had emerged—bigger, and now with a flaming skull replacing where its head once was.
The briar bear continued to grow in size, absolutely demolishing the buildings nearby. It grew to the size of a skyscraper.
Shin ran back and found Satel smiling to herself. Shin ran to her and grabbed her.
"What the hell, Shin!" Satel roared as Shin sprinted to the other side of town. He leaped onto the city buildings and managed to cross the city square.
The briar bear walked towards the city square, destroying everything in front of it.
What the actual heck was the thought process here?
Shin observed from a tall building as the bear made its way towards them. Shin looked at Satel with a scolding glare.
"What? She owes me for my base. Do you know how hard it is to make one on human land?" Satel asked, her voice laced with anger.
Shin shook his head and sighed.
"They're going to send a hero here soon, so let's jet," Shin said as he prepared to dash once more but paused.
Shin looked around, seeming to have sensed something. Satel looked around as well.
In the next second, a flash of light knocked the briar bear down. Shin and Satel quickly turned and looked towards it.
They saw Bjorn standing on a building in front of it. Shin gritted his teeth in anger.
"Where are we going?" Shin asked, his words filled with rage.
"Just down the street to a shop called General Solutions," Satel answered.
Shin looked back to see the briar bear had destroyed the building Bjorn was on. He looked towards the nearest building, a skyscraper.
Bjorn walked out onto the edge of the building floor he was on. He glanced at his broken greatsword.
The briar bear got on all fours and dashed towards him. Bjorn raised the greatsword above his body and swung down.
Instantly, the briar bear was cut right down the middle. Its body flopped onto the sides of the street.
"Now… to find that witch."
Bjorn looked around for Satel but couldn't find her. He closed his eyes and tried to sense her.
"Time to go," Shin said as he dashed off the building onto the street and ran straight ahead. At the edge of the street stood the building, General Solutions.
Shin put Satel down and they walked inside. It was empty. Just as they were looking around, they heard another person enter.
"There you are," Bjorn said as he walked forward.
Shin instantly turned around, taking the hilt out of his pocket and pressing the button. It formed a sword. Shin then pressed the tip of his sword to Bjorn's neck.
Bjorn stopped walking and looked at Shin with tired eyes. Shin gestured for Satel to go, and she immediately ran towards the back.
"Why don't you let her stay and fight me? The two of you could beat me—considering she took on the seven of us," Bjorn said as he stared directly at Shin.
"Big brother, I know you very well, and you are a problem—even with the two of us," Shin said as he slowly started walking away.
Bjorn's eyes shot wide open with shock. After his betrayal, Shin still referred to him as big brother.
Bjorn stood there as he watched Shin enter the back room.
"Teleport." A bright green light briefly illuminated the room before it disappeared.
Bjorn stood there, in a mix of shock and guilt. He walked out and closed the door. Bjorn wandered around the city.
Bjorn breathed a heavy sigh as tears rolled from his eyes. He sat down in the middle of the street and began to sob.
Some of the people hiding in the buildings came out and saw the sobbing hero.
