Shin stared at it, the foretold temple. "It looks cursed," he murmured.
Bael and Shin walked up the obsidian staircase. Shin's eyes widened as he reached the top.
"Those are some really huge doors," Shin exclaimed, dropping his luggage.
Bael glanced at Shin and gave him a quick smile before pushing the doors open. Ash lingered in the air.
Shin stood still, breath held," Is this a temple or a place?"
He scanned the room with lavish gold treasures, their surfaces reflecting the sun and painting the walls yellow.
Shin walked in still wide eyed. His eyes darted around the entire room, taking in the huge scenery.
But then he paused. His pupils narrowed as his gaze fixated on the object in front of him. Bael noticed this.
He stared at Shin then followed his gaze and landed on a statue at the end of the hall.
"Oh. That's just the Demon God's statue. He had it built a couple of decades ago," Bael remarked.
"I know," Shin said under his breath.
Bael paused, his expression darkened as his gaze lingered on Shin.
"Let's just go. Satel and the chief are waiting for us," Bael grabbed Shin by the hand and dragged him off.
They went past the statue, but Shin stole one more glance before walking into the next room.
Shadows clung to the walls like wet paint. The room was empty, except for an altar up ahead.
It reeked of death and decay. Shin and Bael had their hands on their noses the entire time.
"The maintenance on this place is atrocious," Shin whispered.
Bael walked into the middle and began drawing a circle. He let out a heavy sigh as the circle glowed.
The circle ignited. A choking cloud of dust erupted, rolling outward like a living beast. The taste of stone coated their tongues as the cloud enveloped them.
The cloud dispersed and two figures stood in front of Bael. He took a knee.
"Welcome back elder. Welcome back General Satel," Bael greeted.
Satel walked past Bael and stopped infront of Shin. Shin stopped breathing and stared at Satel.
"Looks like you made it in one piece," Satel commented as she looked past him into the dark room.
With a snap of her finger, the room illuminated with flames of green.
"Brings back memories," Satel murmured," at ease soldier," she instructed.
Bael stood up and stood next to the elder.
"I'll have to thank the sword elder for sending you to us. You got here faster than we thought," the elder commented.
The elder strode towards the alter. He ran his hand across the obsidian and quartz.
"Twenty two years of your absence my lord. I hope you'll answer our prayer today and bless this child's ascension."
"You worry to much, Dad, he'll answer the prayer or I'll drag him from wherever he is and beat him up," she growled.
Shin clung to Satel's arm and walked with her towards the alter. Shin let out a heavy sigh as he placed his hands together.
"Time to start the ceremony."
