Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: The Shadow Sealed

Ezra swung at Shin with full force, but he evaded just in time. Shin grabbed Ezra's cloak.

Ezra shot out tentacles from her shadow, making them chase Shin down.

He swiftly ran through the cut-down logs, occasionally kicking them toward her, forcing the tentacles to shield her.

So magical attacks are useless against her… so what about mana-infused objects?

Shin ran around her while frantically looking for his sword.

Come on, where are yo—Bingo!

Shin spotted it near Ezra's feet. He abruptly stopped and ran toward her.

"What now?" Ezra said, directing her shadow tentacles at Shin.

Shin waved his hand, and a gust of wind blew Ezra and the logs around her back. He ran and grabbed his sword, still charging forward.

Ezra landed gracefully and used her tentacles to grab the logs, hurling them at Shin.

Shin smoothly evaded and cut through most of the logs.

Before Ezra could throw another log, she felt a heavy presence a bit farther away.

Wait… the seal can't be breaking this early. It hasn't even been five minutes yet.

Shin saw the shocked expression on Ezra's face and used the momentary distraction to swing at her.

Ezra looked at Shin and dodged just in time.

"Don't think I can't see you," Ezra said, anger rising.

"I know. But you let your composure slip," Shin said as shadows tied up Ezra's arms.

Before she could use her magic, Shin hit her square in the face with all his might. The blow temporarily knocked her off her feet.

Shin quickly tied her up using her cloak.

"I can still cut through this," Ezra said weakly.

Domine tenebrarum, audi preces meas. Da cognationi tuae potentiam divinam. Claude hanc terram desertam a mundo ne cognationi tuae noceat. Da tranquillitatem animi et tutelam filiis umbrarum. Laus sit Deo daemon.

Shin then clapped three times. A small dome covered the girl, trapping her inside.

Shin sighed as he heard a huge explosion. He saw Bael rushing over and waved him down.

When Bael reached Shin, he found that Shin had already used the mantra to seal her.

They could both see slash marks on the dome. Shin nervously looked at Bael.

"Don't worry. The mantra uses natural mana, so it should hold for a very long time. Though I say we teleport her with a note on it," Bael said as he drew a large circle.

He took a small dagger and a piece of wood and wrote a message on it.

Bael placed it on the dome, took a step back, and knelt down, placing his hand outside the circle.

He let out a huge breath as the circle glowed black, and sigils formed inside it.

In a blink, the dome disappeared.

"We'll let them do the interrogation then?" Shin asked.

Bael looked at him and nodded.

They walked back to the base of the mountain, gathered all their luggage, and continued their journey.
