Episode 5: Blood Ties & Broken Codes

---

Twelve years ago...

The Nevada desert. A military compound hidden from every satellite, unmarked on every map. D7 was born here—not as a criminal crew, but as a government experiment.

Julian, Lucian, Eve, Max, Reese, Carter… they weren't always criminals.

They were assets.

"Project D7: Defense-Class Operatives. Genetically enhanced, psychologically bonded, and engineered to execute black ops missions impossible for standard forces."

They were the future of warfare.

Until the government shut the project down… and tried to bury its existence.

Julian remembered it like a scar he couldn't heal. The screaming alarms. The sealed blast doors. The bodies of soldiers—men who had once trained them—lying in pools of their own blood. They'd been betrayed by the very system that created them.

Lucian had been the first to break. Not with fear—but with obedience.

He chose the government.

Julian chose freedom.

That's when the family split.

That's when D7 went underground.

---

Present day.

Deep in the abandoned subway junction, Julian gripped the cold steel of his rifle. His breath came out in white clouds—the underground air had grown colder.

Carter worked on patching Max's injured leg. The rest of the crew sat in silence.

Until Reese finally spoke. "Why didn't you tell us Lucian was alive?"

Julian stared into the dark. "Because I didn't know. Not for sure. And maybe… I didn't want to believe it."

Eve's voice was low, sharp. "And now he's running Ghost Net. Hunting us down like animals."

Max grunted. "He knows everything about us. Our training. Our tactics. Hell, even our thoughts."

Julian stood up. "Then it's time to start thinking differently."

Eve looked up. "You mean change the mission?"

"No," Julian said, eyes narrowed. "We complete it. But we stop playing their game."

Max tapped on a damaged tablet. "We've got about six hours before Ghost Net sweeps this sector. I can spoof our signal if I get to a transmitter tower. But we need a decoy."

Julian looked around. "Who's the fastest?"

Reese raised his hand. "That'd be me. But you better have a damn good exit plan."

Julian nodded. "You run the misdirection. Get them chasing ghosts. The rest of us move on the Phase Two objective."

Eve frowned. "Phase Two? You're serious about this?"

Julian's voice dropped. "The vault was just the beginning. We need to access the Nexus Drive."

Max's head jerked up. "The Nexus? That's suicide. It's buried under the Pentagon's digital firewall. Touching it is a declaration of cyber war."

Julian smiled coldly. "Exactly. And once we expose what's inside it… the world will know everything. Every assassination. Every false flag. Every betrayal."

Eve's lips parted. "That's why Lucian's after us. Not just for the heist. For what we stole from the World Bank servers."

Julian nodded. "The access codes. The location of the Nexus. And the encryption key."

Carter chuckled bitterly. "So we didn't just steal money. We stole the damn truth."

Julian stared at the cracked wall map, blood smears across the old lines.

"There's no going back."

Max adjusted his hacked comms. "Then let's go forward."

---

Across the city, in a sterile black chamber beneath Langley…

Lucian stood in front of a digital map. D7's heat signatures blinked like dying stars.

"Deploy Shadow Protocol," he ordered. "No arrests. No negotiations."

A technician hesitated. "But sir… what if they release the Nexus files?"

Lucian turned slowly, face hard as granite.

"Then we erase them from history."

---

Back in the tunnels, Julian raised his head. The air had changed. A distant tremor shook the ground.

"They're coming."

But this time, D7 was ready.

And the war for the truth… was just beginning.
