"Wow… wow… wow… wowww," Felicia kept repeating, eyes wide with excitement like she just heard the best gossip in the world.


Why was she overreacting like this? It wasn't like I just told her I had royal blood or found treasure. I just told her I'd be turning eighteen soon. That's all.


"What's with the 'wow' parade?" I asked, raising a brow at her.


She clutched her chest dramatically, like she was about to faint from excitement. "It's the big eighteen, Ava! You're finally gonna be legal! Do you even know what that means?!"


I blinked at her. "Felicia," I said, dryly, "legal to do what exactly? Mop more floors?"


She frowned, clearly not liking my sarcasm. "No, silly! I mean—you're officially becoming a woman. You'll be free to find your mate, mark your place in the world, and maybe… just maybe… fall in love!"
