"I don't understand," I said, my voice soft, shaky. I was still standing by the door, trying to figure out what was going on. My eyes shifted from Alpha Soren to Layla, waiting for one of them to explain. But instead, I got something else entirely.


"Seems you're deaf," Alpha Soren snapped at me, his tone sharp like a blade.


"Baby I think she is deaf because if she wasn't deaf she wouldn't have wanted me to repeat myself. 


I froze. My heart skipped. What's happening? Why are they suddenly like this? Where is this attitude coming from? Just a second ago they were devouring each other like wild animals. Now it's like I've become the target again.


I just wanted to excuse them so they could have their privacy.
