In the school hallway, Aoki, who had been in this world for a month, wandered aimlessly.
Though eighteen, he'd registered as sixteen, placing him in the same class as Yūichirō Hyakuya and Shinoa Hīragi.
The student who'd been in the classroom after Yūichirō Hyakuya left was him.
Over the past month, Aoki had learned about this world: an unknown virus outbreak decimated humanity, leaving less than a tenth of the population. Some survivors hid in walled cities; others lived amongst the vampires.
Vampires, unlike the demons of "Demon Slayer", possessed higher intelligence. Aware of humanity's dwindling numbers, they rarely killed humans, preferring to capture and raise them for blood.
Aoki stopped. He saw two familiar figures in the distance: Yūichirō Hyakuya and Shinoa Hīragi.
A brown-haired boy, seemingly timid, was with them.
"Ding!"
Yūichirō Hyakuya:
Identity: One of the Seraph of the End experiment subjects.
Personality: Frank, impulsive, uncoordinated, but deeply cares for his companions.
Skills: None.
Combat Power: 1256
Overall Assessment: 3-level

Shinoa Hīragi:
Identity: Heir to the Hīragi family, a subject of human experimentation since childhood.
Personality: Cunning, calm, outwardly smiling, but inwardly masking her pain.
Skills: Four-Bladed Scythe.

"Ding!"
Yoichi Saotome:
Identity: One of the Seraph of the End experiment subjects.
Personality: Timid, cowardly.
Skills: None.
Combat Power: 35
Overall Assessment: Level 1
Their data flooded Aoki's mind, but he felt little interest.
They were weak, easily dispatched—mere fodder. Yoichi Saotome, in particular, was laughable with his low combat power.
Though uninterested in them personally, Aoki was intrigued by their designation as "Seraph of the End experiment subjects." Given the world's name, Yūichirō Hyakuya and the others were likely the protagonists.
"Boom!"
A violent explosion rocked the building behind the three, shaking the ground.
Aoki looked towards the building, but unlike others, he showed no surprise. He'd sensed the explosion seconds before it happened.
"Emergency alert! Emergency alert! All students and staff! A vampire has escaped from the nearby bio-research facility! All students and staff! Evacuate immediately! Evacuate immediately!"
The announcement repeated the evacuation order. Aoki didn't move immediately, instead focusing on Yūichirō Hyakuya. He wanted to see what Yūichirō Hyakuya would do, knowing that aside from Cursed Gear, humans had no means of killing vampires.
Yūichirō Hyakuya clearly didn't possess Cursed Gear.
"I'll handle the vampire! I'll kill it! I'll make that idiot Guren acknowledge me!" Yūichirō Hyakuya declared, running off without looking back.
Seeing Yūichirō Hyakuya's decision, Aoki moved. Simultaneously, Shinoa Hīragi noticed Aoki observing them from afar.
"That guy… he's in our class! Yūichirō Hyakuya, get back here!"
Returning to the school building, Yūichirō Hyakuya retrieved his equipment from his locker, when he heard a girl scream from upstairs.
Without hesitation, he ran towards the source of the scream.
Inside a classroom, a pink-haired vampire held a girl, preparing to drain her blood.
She noticed Yūichirō Hyakuya entering.
"It's been four years. I finally see you again, vampire." Ignoring another male student in the room, Yūichirō Hyakuya reached for his sword, but a hand stopped him.
He looked up to see Aoki, who'd appeared silently.
"Who are you?" Yūichirō Hyakuya stared at Aoki, sensing an overwhelming pressure that made his breathing difficult.
Aoki ignored him, focusing on the vampire, who was staring intently at him, not Yūichirō Hyakuya, sensing the extreme danger Aoki presented.
"Do you think you can kill her, Yūichirō Hyakuya?" Aoki finally spoke.
After a moment's hesitation, Yūichirō Hyakuya declared resolutely, "Of course! I've sworn to kill all vampires. I can kill her."
Aoki shook his head. "No, I don't think you can. I don't know if you have the ability, but I know you can't kill her."
"Why?" Yūichirō Hyakuya asked, a mix of confusion and annoyance. This stranger had appeared out of nowhere, spouting nonsense.
"Because I will be the one to kill her." Aoki moved with impossible speed, striking the vampire's neck before she could react.
She didn't die. Aoki hadn't drawn his sword, using the scabbard instead.
The impact sent both of them crashing through the classroom wall and flying outside. Mid-air, Aoki drew his sword, swiftly slicing the vampire's neck.
He landed gracefully; the vampire was gone, leaving only dust drifting down from above.
