"First Encounter with Vampires"

Mitsuba Sangū's anger subsided after hearing Shinoa Hīragi's words.

Of everyone present, she had known Shinoa Hīragi the longest, and while they were rivals, Shinoa Hīragi wouldn't lie about something like this.

She withdrew her foot from Aoki's grasp. "Let me be clear: if anyone on this team acts alone, I won't forgive them!"

Since Aoki didn't know where Harajuku was, Shinoa Hīragi and Mitsuba Sangū, who did, were tasked with leading the way.

"Incredible. Since being protected by the Japanese Imperial Demon Army, this is my first time outside the walls. I never imagined it would be like this," Yoichi Saotome commented, looking at the surrounding ruins. "Yūichirō and Kimizuki came here before joining the regular class, right?"

Yūichirō Hyakuya replied, "Yeah, kind of. Back then, we used ordinary weapons to hunt the Horsemen. It wasn't difficult."

Mitsuba Sangū stepped forward, demonstrating her extensive experience. "But that was within the magically-sealed area around the walls, hunting weak Horsemen.

If you're going to act so cocky, I'll have a headache. The Horsemen's power increases dramatically beyond a kilometer from the walls.

They're completely different from the ones you've encountered."

"Here, a moment's carelessness means death.

Stop wasting time and maintain formation. If you don't want to die, stay sharp, you naive brats."

Watching Mitsuba Sangū's self-absorbed monologue, Yūichirō Hyakuya turned to Shinoa Hīragi. "What's wrong with her?"

"Ahaha, isn't she cute?" Shinoa Hīragi laughed. "She's responsible for protecting the rookies, and she takes it very seriously."

Aoki spoke, "She's just a problem child."

He walked past Mitsuba Sangū, who glared at him. "I'm the squad leader appointed by Guren Ichinose. Don't act tough just because you have battlefield experience."

Mitsuba Sangū: "You're even more annoying than that Shinoa!"

They traversed the ruined landscape, eventually reaching a signpost marking Harajuku Station.

Yoichi Saotome: "Ah, we're here. Harajuku Station."

Shihō Kimizuki: "This is the mission location."

Yūichirō Hyakuya: "So, the vampire base is…"

Suddenly, a piercing scream echoed from the distance.

They saw a little girl running desperately, pursued by a massive Horseman.

"Damn it, a Horseman!" Yūichirō Hyakuya moved to save the girl, but Mitsuba Sangū stopped him.

"Don't move, idiot! Maintain formation! Don't be fooled by appearances; this is just a child used as bait by the vampires." Mitsuba Sangū blocked Yūichirō Hyakuya's path.

The little girl was cornered.

"What are you kidding me? We can't even save a little girl? What kind of vampire extermination unit are we?!" Yūichirō Hyakuya shouted.

Mitsuba Sangū remained unmoved, though she also wanted to save the child. "Shut up! This is a vampire trap! If we save her now, we might all die!"

Yūichirō Hyakuya ignored Mitsuba Sangū's warning. "Even if I'm bait, I'm saving that child! You can stay put if you want, but I'm not going to survive by abandoning others!"

Yūichirō Hyakuya broke free from Mitsuba Sangū's grasp and charged towards the Horseman cornering the girl.

"Hey! Wait!" Mitsuba Sangū quickly followed.

Shihō Kimizuki also tried to intervene, but Shinoa Hīragi's scythe pressed against his throat, halting his advance.

"Don't move. Vampires are here.

Alert status. That child was just bait to lure us in," Shinoa Hīragi said gravely.

They scanned their surroundings, but found no one.

Aoki activated his three-tomoe Sharingan, discerning three vampires in extremely well-concealed positions.

He didn't reveal this to the others or take any immediate action.

Meanwhile, the little girl was about to be killed by the Horseman when Yūichirō Hyakuya arrived, cleaving the Horseman's attacking arm with a single blow.

The girl fled. Mitsuba Sangū arrived, wielding a large axe, shouting at Yūichirō Hyakuya.

"You idiot!"

She then severed the Horseman's other arm with a powerful swing, sending the creature flying several meters. Simultaneously, three white figures descended from the sky—three vampires.

"See? Those are vampires. Understand? Using a child as bait to lure rescuers—it's a common vampire tactic. Maintain distance!" Mitsuba Sangū said urgently.

Yūichirō Hyakuya was too slow.

Mitsuba Sangū had already distanced herself, but he was surrounded by the three vampires.

One vampire attacked. Yūichirō Hyakuya reacted swiftly, deflecting the attack, but with two more vampires joining the fray, he began to falter.

Just as a vampire's weapon was about to strike Yūichirō Hyakuya, Aoki, who had been observing from afar, flicked a kunai. The kunai flew in an improbable trajectory, deflecting the attack, then striking another vampire, and finally a third, with unnerving precision.

The Horseman, previously incapacitated by Mitsuba Sangū, suddenly rose.

Seeing only Yūichirō Hyakuya nearby, it bypassed the vampires and lunged at him.

However, Shihō Kimizuki arrived, his twin blades swiftly bisecting the Horseman's body. Yoichi Saotome's green arrow then finished it off flawlessly.
