"Whenever You Need Me"
Aoki left, while Yūichirō Hyakuya was taken away.
Aoki wasn't worried about what they might do to Yūichirō Hyakuya; he couldn't betray the Japanese Imperial Demon Army.
The real person to suspect was Guren Ichinose. Aoki had noticed his strange behavior during the Shinjuku battle.
When Yūichirō Hyakuya lost control, Guren Ichinose showed no surprise, acting as if he'd expected it. This was highly suspicious.
Another point was Ferid Bathory.
He possessed far greater strength than Guren Ichinose, easily capable of killing him, yet he didn't.
If he was too lazy to bother, it was plausible, given Ferid Bathory's personality.
But the Shinjuku battle was crucial. Even if Ferid Bathory was carefree, he wouldn't miss the chance to kill Guren Ichinose, the commander of the Moon Demon Company, unless he didn't want the Japanese Imperial Demon Army to be destroyed.
Perhaps the other vampire progenitors had ordered him to attack Shinjuku, or maybe he was testing something.
In short, Guren Ichinose was highly suspicious. Although Aoki didn't care about the survival of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army, he now had trustworthy comrades within it, and he wouldn't allow its destruction.
As he thought this, he reached the building's exterior, where Mitsuba Sangū and Shinoa Hīragi were waiting.
Seeing him, they approached immediately.
"How was it? Why are you the only one here?" Mitsuba Sangū asked anxiously, clearly concerned about Yūichirō Hyakuya.
Aoki replied calmly, "Tenri Hīragi suspects a vampire spy within the Japanese Imperial Demon Army, primarily targeting Guren Ichinose".
That's why we were summoned.
Tenri Hīragi was somewhat skeptical of me, and he took Yūichirō Hyakuya to confirm his loyalty.
But given Yūichirō Hyakuya's personality, he'd never betray the "Japanese Imperial Demon Army."
"I see. But didn't Tenri-sama suggest you join the Hīragi family? Given his personality and your strength, he wouldn't let you go easily," Shinoa Hīragi said, less concerned about Yūichirō Hyakuya (she trusted his loyalty) and more interested in Aoki's situation.
"Ah, him? Tenri-sama seemed confident I wouldn't join," Aoki said casually, not wanting to discuss Tenri Hīragi.
"So, how are you two? Yoichi and Kimizuki were captured, but Tenri-sama promised to release them. Should you wait here for Yūichirō Hyakuya, or…?"
"Wait," they both replied.
"Understood," Aoki said, and then left.
The two waited until evening before Yūichirō Hyakuya emerged, accompanied by Yoichi and Kimizuki.
While Tenri Hīragi had promised to release them, he'd clearly used them to threaten Yūichirō Hyakuya, confirming his loyalty before letting them go.
Aoki would likely be displeased if he knew.
After leaving the building, they were met not only by Shinoa Hīragi and Mitsuba Sangū but also Guren Ichinose, who hadn't been waiting when Aoki left, perhaps because he didn't expect them to return so quickly.
"Yūichirō, Kimizuki, and Yoichi," Mitsuba Sangū rushed towards them. "What happened? What's wrong?"
"Nothing much. Where's Aoki? Did he leave already?" Yūichirō Hyakuya asked, supporting Yuichi. He then saw Guren Ichinose watching from afar. "Guren! Explain yourself!"
He approached Guren Ichinose, demanding, "I heard from Tenri Hīragi. Me, my family, Mikaela, everyone… we're just test subjects. You saved me to use me, didn't you?"
Guren Ichinose admitted it without hesitation. "That's right. I don't have time to save anyone useless. So, brat, are you angry?"
Yūichirō Hyakuya denied it. "No. If you hadn't saved me, I'd be dead. All that matters is whether I'm useful to you. If you need me, you need Mikaela, right? Even if I'm a test subject, it doesn't matter. Tell me how to get Mikaela back."
"I've said it before. Everyone here, including me, is your family. Let's work together to get your family back. Aoki is different; he prefers to work alone".
But he's the most likely to bring your family back. "If you really want them back, ask him for help. His strength surpasses mine; even Tenri Hīragi can't suppress him," Guren Ichinose said before turning to leave.
"If you consider us family, tell us how to properly use the Cursed Gear! Aoki is strong. He might seem heartless, but he'll help if I ask.
But… Mikaela is my family! I want to bring him back myself!" Yūichirō Hyakuya shouted after Guren Ichinose's departing figure.
Guren Ichinose stopped, looking back at Yūichirō Hyakuya. "That's precisely my intention. You're all incredibly weak.
In the Shinjuku battle, you were almost useless. If it weren't for Aoki, we might have been wiped out and turned into livestock."
Meanwhile, in Aoki's room… Aoki lay on his bed, his body twitching, his hands clutching his head, his expression contorted in pain.
Yōitsu lay beside him, emitting a crimson mist.
This lasted about ten minutes before the crimson mist faded, and Aoki's pain subsided.
He sat up, gasping for breath, sweat dripping from his forehead.
He looked around, finding no cameras or surveillance equipment.
It seemed Tenri Hīragi's 24/7 surveillance was just a test. Aoki's easy agreement indicated that surveillance was pointless.
Aoki looked at Yōitsu beside him, his eyes shifting…
