Several days had passed since our dinner with Alvin and his father. Uncle Felix left such a warm impression on me. His gentle nature and thoughtful demeanor drew me in immediately. What struck me most was how attentively he treated my mother. Watching her face light up in his presence filled me with joy. She deserved this happiness after everything she had endured.
This morning found me struggling to leave my bed. My mother had spent the previous evening shopping with Luna Valencia, returning home with armfuls of elegant dresses. She modeled each one for me, saving the most stunning piece for last - her wedding gown. We talked for hours afterward, losing ourselves in conversation until the early morning hours crept up on us.
My mother suggested I skip classes today and rest at home. The idea tempted me briefly, but I pushed the thought away. Education remained my top priority, no matter how exhausted I felt.
