Chapter 285 - Chapter 285: The Approaching Storm

"So why isn't Thor here in this situation!"

Tony complained through the screen. Due to the unique nature of Electro, Tony was a character who absolutely had to be absent from this fight. Both the electricity needed for the Iron Man armor and the Arc Reactor in Tony's chest were prime targets for Electro. If the power in those devices were absorbed, Tony Stark would be essentially finished.

Finished, literally. The shrapnel fragments in his bloodstream would flow toward Tony's heart due to the loss of magnetic suction, leading to his death.

Therefore, the Avengers needed to figure out a solution within minutes, or Tony would be offline and unable to participate in the discussion.

"Thor said he's in Svartalfheim, helping the Dwarves resist the Fire Giants. If the God of Thunder were still here, we certainly wouldn't need to worry about a live bolt of lightning," Hank said, adjusting the details of the new Spider-Man suit alongside Peter. Tony, far away in his mansion, tried his best to provide enough information before his power cut out.

After all, once Electro truly arrived, the electricity in Manhattan wouldn't be enough for him to absorb anyway, and communications would truly be severed then.

"And the Fantastic Four are still exploring in the Wasteland Universe. Banner went to find his girlfriend..."

Captain America sighed helplessly. He was advised not to participate in the fight either. The enemies were increasingly exceeding the scope that an ordinary Super Soldier could handle.

"What about the X-Men?"

"I just contacted Emma Frost. She says he seems to have learned how to defend against telepathy using electrical signals from somewhere. There's no way to stop him that way."

The Captain brought more bad news while Tony, Hank, and Peter worked on the suit design. The suit's material was a polymer made of anti-gamma radiation, the same cosmic radiation that had mutated the Fantastic Four and modified their original spacesuits to perfectly adapt to their powers.

Therefore, if the equipment was designed beforehand, this suit could also perfectly adapt to Spider-Man's abilities—primarily based on Peter's inherent bio-electrical discharge and storage capabilities—to design a suit that could "strip away electricity."

Tony took advantage of the still-working communication system to first summarize his analysis.

"Okay, to summarize our strategy: one, based on his previous characteristics—Electro can absorb and release electrical energy, but he cannot absorb the electrical energy he releases. If we create an electricity-free environment for a short period, Electro will grow weaker and weaker until he completely loses resistance. So, we first need to stop the Arc Reactor beneath Avengers Tower. Janet, can you handle that?"

Janet, executing the shutdown procedure underground, sounded relaxed.

"Of course. Even if I'm not a professional scientist, I run in scientist circles. I always have to explain to investors what you guys can pull off. Leave it to me."

"Good. Next step: create a bio-electric suit for Spider-Man to engage the enemy. Based on his weakness, complete a 'power-swap'—enhance the suit's storage capacity, guide him to absorb your internal bio-electricity, and then store the electricity he releases to boost your speed. It should significantly increase your speed. I'm still studying our Sonic friend's running data. I'll have him deliver the suit once it's done."

Tony looked at the blueprint, modifying details with a stylus. Peter listened, then asked, "What if this doesn't work, and we can't drain him enough to weaken him..."

"Then we'll have no choice but to break up all the electrons in his body, turning the entire person into an electric current to be grounded or dispersed into the atmosphere. That will likely kill him, so try not to do that." Hank warned, and Peter nodded.

As the only person on the team currently capable of discharging electricity, he was the only one who could execute this strategy. The strategic thinking was simple: since Electro had shown the two weaknesses of severe weakness from excessive current drain and the inability to absorb his own released current in previous fights, they would use Spider-Man, who can release bio-electricity, to attract the enemy, grab him, and then strip away his electricity in one go, forcing him to surrender.

"All New York hospitals have been evacuated; they are all in New Jersey now. Various corporate projects and high-level construction have also been notified, at least as requested." Quicksilver, having returned to Avengers Tower, reported his completed task, much to the surprise of the veteran Captain. "I wish this kid could join us every time we go out."

"Wait," Quicksilver smiled. "Is that an invitation to join the Avengers?"

"First, no. Second, even if it were, you'd have to sort things out with your old man."

Tony bluntly pointed out the biggest obstacle to Quicksilver joining the Avengers, then looked at the reply from the Pentagon. Although Tony often disagreed with the Pentagon and the White House, he couldn't risk them doing something stupid underground in New York that would allow Electro to absorb too much power. Fortunately, the Pentagon, upon learning that a guy who could recklessly absorb electricity was heading toward Manhattan, very politely stated that they had received the warning, shut down all projects, and would wait for the Avengers to handle everything.

"Hmph, that's a surprise. I thought they'd send the U.S. Agent or a few fighter jets to deal with the problem."

Tony finished the design as he spoke. "Jarvis, start 3D printing. Tell me how long until that electric ball reaches Manhattan?"

[Based on satellite imagery, there are one minute and fifty-two seconds remaining, sir.]

"Good. Where's the silver-haired kid? Tell him to pick up the package."

Tony said this as he poured himself a vegetable drink. Just as he was about to drink it, he saw Quicksilver standing outside his mansion door on the camera feed.

"My goodness, this is California. He got here in half a minute." Tony reluctantly told Jarvis to open the door while asking, "How much time is left, Jarvis?"

[One minute and twenty-two seconds, sir.]

"I meant the Christmas new suit."

[The Speed Suit will be completed in thirty-seven seconds.]

"Excellent, Jarvis. The New York Mayor and the White House have all been notified, right? Janet looks like she's shut down the Arc Reactor."

Tony finished his drink, smiled, and began the battle he was destined not to participate in. "Have New York pull the plug."
