Chapter 22 - Ep. 6 — Lunar Labs, III

She grabbed something from the closet, but I couldn't tell what it was yet.

As she pulled it out, my heart was racing. Wait… pulled it out?

"Aw, this is cute!" She had pulled out a pink pig plush, that was very dirty and old.

"Why did you scream, though?" She turned around.

Oh… I had to come up with an excuse quick… She started turning around to look in the closet more thoroughly before I shouted, "It's embarrassing… an adult with a plush." I looked down.

She turned back around facing me again and said, "Oh… I mean it's not that bad."

"I've never seen this side of you…" She said as she set the plush back in the closet.

Even though she thought the reaction was over the top, she luckily believed me and didn't question it.

She then grabbed the clothing I left on the floor, and brought them over to me. She shoved them into my arms, and I could tell that she was either not very nice, or just annoyed at the situation.

"Hurry up and get changed." She turned slightly to the side, to not be directly looking at me, but to also be able to see if I try to quietly run off.

Even though the situation was stupid, as I still didn't know why I was being brought in, I quickly changed my clothes into the ones I had wanted too. It was a very nice matte slash dark purple coloured suit, with a wine coloured tie. As I adjusted the tie, she faced me and said, "You still amaze me with your unique clothe choices."

I looked up and asked her what she meant.

"I don't know… old fashioned and poor, I guess?" She said sassily.

I gave her a perplexed look… "Old fashioned?"

"No need to get offended." She put her hand up.

"Anyway, we're done!" She shouted.

The door opened and they walked in. The leader walked up to me and put my hands into an interesting looking pare of handcuffs. They looked very advanced and technology based instead of just the simple metal ones.

"Let's go." He got behind me and started guiding me forward out the door.

At a glance, I could see Yuri's face poking out of the cloth pile, as she hadn't closed the closet door. I looked left to right with my eyes multiple times to signal him 'NO!' As I could tell he was going to try and help me. Though, based on these handcuffs, I think they have a way to suppress the alien powers… but if these don't, then there's no way they don't have a way to suppress him.

The weird guard caught me, and said, "Whatcha doing?" as he tilted in front of me.

"Something over there?" He turned around and looked over at the closet.

"I wasn't doing anything." I gave him a stern look.

He turned around and matched my gaze, "I've never liked you, and you already know that." He looked me directly in the eyes with the same look.

"I'm so glad I get to be here when you're in trouble." He chuckled.

He acts just like a kid, but now that I think about it, based on what he and the other guard said, these guards know me… Which I guess is obvious since Lydia worked there. Though, now I have to be extra careful not to do anything out of the ordinary for Lydia.

"Just stop talking and bring her out." The leader said as he turned around and lifted his hand next to his mouth. He then whispered something into the other guards ear, but I couldn't hear what he said.

She then whispered back, but I could hear what she said, "No, I didn't."

What did that mean?

As I had slowed down when they were talking, I had fallen a little behind as the guard bring me out came back into the room and grabbed the handcuffs, pulling me out of the room.

He got up close to my face, and said, "You may have been my superior, but that doesn't mean you get to ignore me." I honestly wasn't ignoring him on purpose, I just didn't even hear what he said. Though, his aggressive tone was frightening me, on top of him hurting me as the cuffs were digging into my wrists.

"You know, I'm gonna get a promotion soon!" He laughed as to rub it into my face.

"Sorry! I didn't hear you…" I said as I laid my head on my shoulder averting his piercing gaze.

He slowly let go of the handcuffs as he seemed somewhat surprised that I was cowering.

After a few seconds of silence, he softly said, "Lets just go…"

As we walked down the hallway, I noticed someone in the distance who looked like they were trying to unlock their door. He looked over in our direction, and his face immediately became struck with horror. His hands started shaking as he tried to unlock the door, and the closer we got, the faster he tried to open it. He finally managed to open it right as we were about to walk past him and he hastily slammed the door… and we could hear multiple locks as we walked by.

The people here weren't only scared of me? Were they scared of me because I worked for Lunar?

Whatever the reason, we made it to the elevator, and someone was inside. They quickly ran out as they saw us, and ran around the corner. The guard seemed to not care at all and payed no attention to them. We walked in and as he clicked the button to go down, I noticed that based on the buttons glowing, the person who ran out was headed towards the upper floor, but still got off at the sight of us.

As the doors closed, I couldn't help but wonder what Lunar did to cause people to be this scared.

Honestly, they seem more scared of the guards than they were with just me…

We made it to the first floor, and as he pushed me out of the elevator, Ken was right next to one of the doors, closing it.

He saw us, and a look of defeat fell upon him.

"NO! PLEASE NOT HER!" He screamed as he ran over to us.

Tears started forming in his eyes as he said, "It was the scratches from yesterday, wasn't it."

He fell to the ground.

The guard looked down and said, "Sir, what are you talking about?"

"She came home with her boyfriend yes-terda-y and they were both badly injure-d." He said as he started coughing.

He continued as tears rolled down his face. No, no, no! Stop talking he doesn't know!

The guard stood completely still as he listened. I started getting goosebumps everywhere and my hearts started racing. Ken couldn't stop talking… I know it was because he cared but he was going to ruin everything!

When Ken finally stopped talking, there was a brief silence before the guard looked at me and tilted his head.

A sense that I'd never felt before, a sense of doom, fell upon me.

"Who Is he talking about?"
