Chapter 263 - Chapter 263: From the Unknown to Success!

Gu You released his two-word battle armor and suddenly accelerated, soaring into the sky in an attempt to get a better view of the surrounding terrain.

But all he saw was a boundless sea of snow-capped mountains—nothing else in sight...

With a sigh, he withdrew his battle armor. He remembered Leng Yaozhu's reminder: upon arriving here, he had to act like an ordinary person. Every person who came to enlist had to walk this path with their own two legs. Even flying-type soul masters were no exception. This was a rule. Using a martial soul was strictly forbidden—anyone who did so would be eliminated.

So, Gu You began trekking into the snowy mountains on foot. When he finally climbed the first peak, he started to understand why the place he was headed for had such a rule.

Climbing snowy mountains was a true test of willpower. Without the use of martial souls, even soul masters with abundant soul power would find it incredibly difficult.

The snow on the mountain was thick, making each step a challenge. The terrain grew steeper, the temperature plummeted, and the air grew thinner at higher altitudes.

Even with Gu You's physical condition, by the time he summited one mountain, his breathing had grown rapid. If it were an ordinary person with no equipment, they wouldn't have made it far.

After a short rest, Gu You leapt down from the mountain, using the deep snow as a cushion. He spread his body out, increasing contact with the slope to avoid sinking too deeply. Snow sprayed past him in all directions as he sped downward, adjusting his trajectory constantly using his spiritual power to avoid danger zones.

It had taken over an hour to climb up, but only minutes to descend. As he neared the base, Gu You raised his legs to keep sliding, using the momentum to rush all the way to the foot of the next mountain. He even surged partway up before coming to a stop.

The snow here was thick. Gu You recalled his training—one should avoid making too much noise in places like this, to prevent avalanches.

'They said no martial soul use… but what about external soul bones?'

Gu You tapped his forehead with a grin. 'I'm such a genius.'

Out came the Purple Emperor Terrorclaw soul bone. With a firm grip, he began climbing upward.

Not every mountain was steep. After crossing a dangerous stretch, the slope eased, and he stood upright again to continue the climb. He traversed peak after peak.

By now, he had fully entered the sea of snow-covered mountains, reminiscent of the Ten Thousand Beast Mountain Range.

Each peak was taller and more treacherous than the last. Sitting atop one, Gu You finally felt a trace of exhaustion.

It had been a full day. He had no idea how many peaks he'd crossed. The road behind him was no longer visible.

'Where is my destination?'

The sky gradually darkened, yet the end was still out of sight. Even with his stamina, continuing at night would be dangerous. The temperature had likely dropped below minus fifty degrees Celsius, sapping his body's heat at a frightening rate.

Even if he had confidence, he needed to leave some strength in reserve. If anything went wrong, it could cost him dearly.

Finding a place to rest wasn't difficult for Gu You. He dug a snow cave into the mountain and crawled inside, curling up. From his storage ring, he retrieved bedding, sealing himself off from the outside cold. It wasn't luxurious, but at least he wouldn't be blasted by the wind.

A unique experience, he thought. He pressed the snow around him tighter and snuggled in.

After a night of meditation, Gu You awoke full of energy.

He split the snow cave open and climbed out. The biting wind struck his face, jolting him fully awake.

After warming up and circulating his blood and soul rings, steaming energy pulsed from his body, mist rising visibly in the cold air.

With a deep breath, Gu You leapt forward and resumed his journey.

The peaks ahead grew steeper—nearly vertical.

Doubt flickered in his eyes. 'Which direction am I even going? Where is that army camp?'

"I should've asked Teacher for a damn map…" he muttered.

Still, Purple Emperor Terrorclaw was incredibly useful.

The thousand-meter vertical cliff was conquered in just fifteen minutes. Gu You shook out his sore arms and warmed up his chilled fingers. Circulating his qi and blood, he quickly recovered.

Beyond the next snow peak, the slope finally leveled off—something he couldn't see before.

Trudging through the snow, he climbed over a ridge—and was stunned.

On the other side was not a downward slope, but a massive plateau nestled among the peaks.

More accurately, it was a snowy plain.

Atop that plain, a vast military camp stretched outward. The scale was immense. Guards stood watch, though no towers were visible. Everything was snow-covered—he couldn't even tell what the buildings were made of.

But the camp was real. Covering at least one square kilometer, it was definitely not an illusion.

He had arrived!

Sliding swiftly downhill, an indescribable emotion welled up inside Gu You.

From a completely unknown path to arriving at the correct destination, he had gambled—and won.

He hadn't even run far when a sudden sense of danger erupted within him. He stopped abruptly.

Just twenty meters ahead, four figures sprang silently from the snow.

Four soul-guided rifles aimed squarely at him.

The four were clad in heavy white combat suits. Their weapons, clearly not ordinary, were steady and unwavering.

Gu You raised both hands immediately. "Don't misunderstand—I'm here to enlist!"

One of the four lowered their weapon, while the other three kept theirs trained on him.

That one approached, saying nothing. He patted Gu You down for weapons. Finding none, he removed his helmet.

"Solid build. Recommendation letter?"

Gu You hurriedly pulled out the letter Leng Yaozhu had given him from his storage ring and handed it over...
