Chapter 262 - Chapter 262: Enlistment

He used his own soul power as fuel. With Gu You's cultivation nearing rank 80, maintaining the soul-powered off-road vehicle for long periods was no issue. Besides, even if he ran out, he still had milk bottles as backups.

Fortunately, the onboard navigation kept him on course. Without it, traversing this boundless desert would've been far too easy to get lost in.

After entering the desert, his planned route still required about five more days of travel to reach the extreme western region. Starting from Heaven Dou City, Gu You had crossed nearly half the continent. A journey close to ten thousand kilometers—its distance alone was staggering.

After a full day of travel through the desert, night began to fall, and Gu You brought the vehicle to a stop.

He looked up at the sky. Desert nights were unnaturally silent, with only the occasional wind sweeping up trails of dust.

The air was dry, but the sky was extraordinarily clear. The distant sunset seemed to melt into the edge of the desert. Unless one had personally come to such a place, they would never understand this beauty.

For some reason, Gu You found himself deeply drawn to this desolate scenery.

---

At dawn, Gu You restarted his vehicle and continued forward through the desert.

According to the map, after another half day of travel tomorrow, he would cross the desert and reach the Blazing Basin.

As he drove with one hand and sang along the way, the ground beneath the car suddenly began to rumble and shake.

'What is that?'

His eyes narrowed. A flash of purple-gold light burst from his body, and a dragon's roar echoed from deep within his chest.

With a low screech, a massive, beetle-like creature burst up from the sand, tumbled across the ground, and barely managed to stabilize itself. Clearly startled, it turned tail and fled. Despite its size—nearly two meters in diameter—it moved surprisingly fast across the sand, vanishing in moments.

Gu You watched it run and muttered, "Am I that scary?"

But his smirk vanished as his expression froze. In the distance, clouds of sand began to rise. Countless ridges in the earth—like waves of furrows—rushed toward him.

'Seriously? The whole family's here to die?'

The ridges advanced with frightening speed, and within a few dozen breaths, they were nearly upon him.

Figures burst from the sand—dozens upon dozens of identical creatures to the one before. Hundreds of them, surrounding Gu You's vehicle from all sides.

The largest among them was over five meters in diameter, with dark brown armor plates. Its back split open to reveal a pair of wings, and its eight legs beneath were long and sharp. The front pair especially resembled massive blades, raised as it reared up.

The rest of the sand beetles also unfolded their wings and lifted their bodies slightly, their wings buzzing menacingly.

'Sand Demon Bugs,' Gu You identified them. These creatures loved to inhabit desert regions.

Had they encountered anyone else, not a single one of them would have survived.

But Gu You wasn't just anyone.

He wasn't picky. He absorbed them all straight into his mind! He could tame them.

"Gravity Domain!"

A yellow light shone from his chest as an ancient pressure descended.

Like mountains pressing down, the domain crushed the sand bugs to the ground—they couldn't even raise their heads.

The result was obvious.

Not one escaped. All were captured.

Unknowingly, a desert terrain had begun forming within Gu You's mental sea...

---

By noon the next day, he finally arrived at the Blazing Basin.

The name made sense—this place was indeed scorching. Extremely hot.

The roads were poor and underdeveloped, giving the whole area a rather primitive feel. Yet the basin was like a massive city in its own right. While not officially called a city, it was the most densely populated human settlement in the western regions of the continent.

Most of the buildings were made of clay and stone, and the locals' clothing was entirely different from those beyond the desert. Many wore veils to guard against the sand, concealing their faces.

Gu You found a quiet, secluded spot to store away his vehicle.

'This place…' he scratched his head. 'Why does it feel like I'm surrounded by my African brothers?'

'Must just be the sun…'

'Forget it. Let's go try the local roasted meat.'

Soon, he found an authentic local grill house inside the Blazing Basin. Huge skewers of roasted meat, paired with fruit wine brewed by the locals—wild, exotic flavor.

The grilling was exquisite. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. The meat retained its juices perfectly, and the flavor was irresistible.

Although Gu You no longer needed to eat much to sustain his bloodline, delicious food was still delicious food. Why wouldn't he eat it?

'Even gods need to eat, right?'

---

He no longer needed a vehicle for the final stretch.

Gu You sprinted freely across the basin, unbound by anyone.

'This is the life!'

As he ran, he shouted with joy.

---

When he saw the distant scenery, Gu You was left in awe.

Rolling, snow-white mountains stretched endlessly. The farther they extended, the taller they grew—until their peaks pierced the clouds.

The sun seemed far closer than usual. Even with his powerful body, Gu You could feel the excessive intensity of light element around him. It was almost harmful. But for someone like him, it was nothing.

There was no road ahead. The place he needed to go required him to enter these snowy mountains.

He had never experienced terrain like this before—thin air, barely any signs of human activity. Yet the majestic beauty of nature left him breathless.

He turned around and saw the green lands he had passed through.

Then looked ahead—pure white. His future path, covered in snow.

Standing there, he felt like a speck in the vast ocean—utterly insignificant.

'This is the power of nature…'

The seed of nature in his brow seemed to shiver, resonating with his emotions. Gu You took a deep breath and marched into the snowy peaks.

The temperature was already freezing, yet he wore only a simple shirt. His steps were swift and steady. The whirlpool of bloodline energy in his body flowed naturally, repelling the chill with ease.

"What the hell kind of map is this?" Gu You stared at the military deployment map of the Blood God Army he had bought online, growing furious.

"Dammit! I'm never trusting the internet again. Which bastard out there managed to get an accurate map of this army anyway?"
