Gu You nodded. "I see. No wonder. So, after the special training, I'll start engaging in actual combat against Abyssal creatures? And the more I kill, the more merit I accumulate?"
Long Yuxue nodded. "That's the general idea. But you're in the Special Operations Division—it's a little different from the frontline combat units."
Gu You asked, "Ma'am, can I request to be transferred to a combat unit? I want to fight on the front lines."

"Combat troops take shifts—rotating, resting, resupplying. And the Abyssal Beasts don't attack constantly. Their main duty is to guard the seal and prevent any creature from slipping through. But for us in Special Ops, our tasks focus on deep reconnaissance. We go to the outer limits near the spatial rift. Sometimes, we even enter the Abyssal Plane itself to gather intel. If we discover a new species and bring back a sample, it's a major accomplishment. So if you want to rise in rank quickly, this division is your best bet—at least in the early stages."
Gu You asked curiously, "Why only in the early stages?"
Long Yuxue replied, "Before you hit a certain rank, individual merit is the key. But once you reach the rank of lieutenant colonel and above, your ability to command and lead becomes crucial. High-ranking officers must be capable of leadership. Otherwise, even if they have the power, they'll only exist in name—like honorary consultants. They won't be allowed to command troops directly."

"Yes," Gu You replied seriously.
Long Yuxue's face softened slightly. "Now, I'll give you a briefing on what we currently know about the Abyssal Plane and the various types of Abyssal creatures."
Long Yuxue was a good instructor. Her explanations were detailed, and Gu You listened attentively. Whenever he had a question, she would answer it patiently.
As he gained a deeper understanding of the Abyssal Plane, Gu You became increasingly impressed by the Blood God Legion. According to Long Yuxue, less than half of the soldiers who served a full ten-year term in the Legion ever returned.
Despite advancements in human technology and more experience combating the Abyss, casualties were still unavoidable.
Gu You also learned that, contrary to expectations, the Blood God Legion wasn't lacking in supplies. The Federation heavily supported them. The equipment used here was the best humanity had to offer—cutting-edge technology and weaponry.
He suspected that the only weapon the Legion hadn't yet deployed was a Class-12 Godslayer Soul Cannon.
But if the survival of the Douluo Plane ever came into question, even that cannon might be used.
To even apply for the Blood God Legion, one needed to have a cultivation level of at least four soul rings…
