Chapter 367 - Chapter 367: Explosion? What I Lack Least Is Explosiveness!

A massive cylindrical soul tool slowly rose from beneath the ground at the exit of the abyssal passage. The cylinder was painted dark green, with ominous black skull emblems etched across its surface. Just the sight of it sent a chilling aura across the battlefield.

The barrel tilted upward, aimed directly at the abyssal passage. From within, faint pulses of energy began to ripple outward.

At this moment, with countless abyssal creatures charging upward with reckless abandon, the blockade line was being pushed dangerously close to the mouth of the passage.

"Fire!"

Following Zhang Huanyun's command, the launch device for the corrosion bomb activated. A murky green glow lit up inside the barrel. A moment later, a large green sphere shot skyward, arcing gracefully in a high trajectory before plummeting straight toward the center of the abyssal passage's exit.

The blockade line paused slightly at the descent of the sphere, allowing the abyssal creatures below to seize the opportunity to charge harder. However, the enormous 30-meter-wide green energy orb had already landed among them.

The moment the sphere touched the abyssal creatures, a strange scene unfolded. The monsters caught in its radius seemed to become stuck, unable to escape. Then they began to dissolve slowly upon contact. Stranger still, the energy radiating from their dissolution didn't immediately scatter. Instead, the orb seemed to suck it in, preventing the abyssal essence from returning to the abyss as it normally would.

Humanity had studied abyssal life forms for centuries. They weren't defenseless. The corrosion bomb was a specially designed secret weapon specifically developed to target abyssal creatures.

Utilizing unique soul tool inscription principles, the bomb not only delivered devastating area damage but also exhibited a highly adhesive property toward abyssal energy. By trapping that energy and slowing its return to the abyss, the bomb could prolong the time it took for the abyss to recycle its fallen, thus temporarily lessening the threat of resurrection.

Though this tactic only addressed the symptoms and not the root problem, it proved effective during massive assaults like the one they now faced.

As the corrosion bomb pulled numerous abyssal creatures into the depths with it, Zhang Huanyun issued another order with a calm expression.

"Detonate."

A thunderous explosion roared forth. Deep within the abyssal tunnel, a huge, murky green energy sphere detonated, spreading streams of corrosive green liquid in every direction. The liquid splashed across the swarming abyssal creatures, triggering violent corrosion and causing them to dissolve into puddles of abyssal goo.

It was in these moments that the disparity between high-tier and low-tier abyssal life forms became glaringly evident. Lesser abyssals disintegrated almost instantly, but the more powerful ones had various means of resistance.

Among the ranks near the abyssal emperors were twelve black-clad figures—Black Sovereigns—each shrouded in dense black fog. They were humanoid in form but radiated a suppressive, dreadful aura.

Six of them remained close to the Black Empress, serving as her personal guard. The remaining six had already ascended into the air. From their bodies, thick plumes of black mist surged upward to intercept the corrosive liquids descending from the explosion. When the acidic fluid came into contact with the mist, it evaporated or was absorbed, transforming into more black fog.

Thanks to their intervention, the corrosive bomb's damage was significantly mitigated. Still, the abyssal offensive had slowed noticeably.

The six Black Sovereigns hovered mid-air like shadowy warlords. The black fog they emitted was of a completely different level—viscous, tangible, and almost liquid in form. Soul tool projectiles that entered it failed to explode. Soul-guided beams, upon touching it, disappeared as if swallowed by the void.

Zhang Huanyun's heart sank. He knew all too well that this was the infamous "Black Devouring Mist," the terrifying innate ability of the Black Sovereign race. It could devour all forms of matter and energy, converting it into power for the user.

It was the foundation of every ability the Black Sovereigns possessed.

With the Black Devouring Mist in the air, most conventional attacks were rendered useless. Each of the six Black Sovereigns possessed strength equivalent to a Title Douluo—not even factoring in battle armor.

Zhang Huanyun took a deep breath. The only way to counter the Black Devouring Mist was brute force—an overwhelming energy burst powerful enough to surpass the fog's absorption threshold, leaving it no time to react.

"I'll handle this."

A confident voice rang out beside Zhang Huanyun.

Turning, he blinked in surprise. It was Gu You, already recovered and ready to fight. Zhang hadn't expected him to absorb abyssal energy so quickly.

"That mist requires immense explosive power to break through," Zhang warned.

"Explosive power?" Gu You's eyes gleamed. "That's the one thing I'll never lack."

He raised his Golden Dragon Spear and thrust it forward.

A thunderous dragon roar echoed across the battlefield. A massive multicolored dragon burst forth from the spear's tip, soaring forward with fangs bared and claws extended. It streaked through the sky, crashing directly into the black fog that loomed just under a kilometer from the tunnel exit.

If the fog reached the exit, the battlefield would collapse. But Gu You's dragon shadow struck at just the right moment.

Even abyssal creatures shielded by the fog were instantly vaporized under the dragon's roar. Their disintegrating energy was sucked in by the dragon, fueling it further. This was no ordinary projection—it was a true manifestation of the Golden Dragon Spear's might.

The dragon's energy overwhelmed everything in its path. Even the abyssal emperors observing from afar showed a flicker of unease.

Boom!

The colossal dragon head plunged into the heart of the Black Devouring Mist. A series of violent explosions tore through the air, and the entire abyssal passage shuddered from the impact.

The fog shattered.

The six Black Sovereigns froze in disbelief, exposed and vulnerable. The dragon lunged and swallowed them whole. They didn't even have time to scream before their bodies disintegrated under the crushing energy of the dragon's life force. They evaporated, their essence absorbed into the dragon's glowing form.

At that moment, the Black Empress moved.

Hovering at the center of the five abyssal emperors, she only flickered once before appearing directly in front of the oncoming dragon.

Her expression remained ice cold.

From behind her, the disc-shaped cascade of black hair began to ripple and extend outward like an expanding halo of darkness...
