Her hands moved in a rhythm of eerie elegance, and from her fingers spun out strands of black silk, drifting toward Mingjing Douluo Zhang Huanyun.
But Zhang Huanyun didn't confront her head-on. Though he had already advanced to the rank of Limit Douluo and was armed with a full four-word battle armor set—giving him the strength to at least resist her if not defeat her—there was no need to recklessly engage.
Within the Blood God Legion, only he and Xue Yi possessed such cultivation. They were the core pillars holding this defense together. In battling top-tier abyssal monarchs like the Black Empress, raw personal power was not the key. What truly mattered was leveraging the plane's own power—the elemental laws of the Douluo Continent—against these invaders. Without that aid, humans alone had no chance.
As long as the Blood God Grand Array remained stable, Douluo's planar advantages would continue asserting themselves. Now, as they watched him unleash such terrifying combat strength, they were shaken to their core. Awe and reverence filled the battlefield.
Around Gu You, radiant multicolored light surged, and his aura pulsed in and out like a beating heart. Though much of the energy absorbed from the six slain Black Sovereigns had already been spent in combat, their origin energy had still entered his body, embedding itself within him.
Both his dragon core and soul core were operating at full capacity, stretched to their limits. Any other soul master would have long since exploded from such an overwhelming influx of power. But Gu You's body was far beyond ordinary—fortified, tempered, and guarded by the Life Tree that had taken root in him after devouring the plane seeds of two abyssal monarchs.
The Life Tree was more than satisfied with its current host.
Its pure life force saturated every cell of Gu You's being, protecting and balancing his energy flow. Though enormous, the flood of power was being continually refined and harmonized by the Tree's essence. Not only did this keep him from exploding, it actually facilitated qualitative growth.
Every living being possesses a life essence. The stronger the essence, the greater the life force. The energy transmitted through the Life Tree now served to expand and refine Gu You's own life source, enabling his cultivation to rise explosively while his body remained stable.
"Huanyun, fall back," came Xue Yi's voice, clear and resolute.
Zhang Huanyun paused and turned toward him. At that moment, the deep surge from earlier had temporarily halted the abyssal assault, but the rift still spewed abyssal creatures in waves. No one knew how the abyss plane was maintaining such output under the Blood God Array's pressure, but it was holding strong.
Xue Yi's tone grew heavier. "The Grand Array will guard Gu You. Right now, only he can lead us to repel the abyssal forces. Gu You, listen carefully—starting now, we will make you the core eye of the Blood God Array. You don't need to worry about defense. Just focus on attacking. Kill as many enemies as you can. If you can't absorb the energy, don't hesitate to waste it."
"Blood God Cycle—Nine Spirits Guard!"
The nine circular platforms began to rotate simultaneously. Beams of elemental light descended from the heavens, converging into a cone of divine energy. Gu You felt an immense pull and, in the blink of an eye, a profound sensation swept through him.
It was as if he had become the very master of the world.
Everything seemed to fall within his grasp. He could clearly sense the elemental structure of all things. The entire mountain range unfolded before his spiritual senses, and even farther out, he could feel faint pulses of energy.
He sensed it—Douluo Continent's luck, its very essence, was converging upon him.
His thoughts sharpened, his perception extended. Every detail became vivid, every element responsive to his will.
The swelling energy within his body began to stabilize. With the empowerment of the world's elemental spirits, he was no longer just Gu You—he had become something more.
The Golden Dragon Spear in his hand burned hot, roaring with invisible dragon cries.
Then, strands of green light flowed from his forehead. At that moment, the life essence he had received began resonating with the heavenly spirits flowing into him from the Blood God Array—and reversed.
The vast cone of energy took on a green hue, and a rich aura of life swept across the Grand Array.
All nine of the Blood Gods felt it. Their fatigue eased, and vitality surged. Their lifeforce replenished and amplified.
Even more surprising was what came next. The previously passive elemental spirits of Douluo seemed to come alive—rushing toward Gu You's position like streams seeking their source.
"This is…" Xue Yi's eyes sparkled with astonishment and hope.
He now knew without a doubt: their decision had been right.
A tide of brilliance spread across the air above them…
