The Otherworlders who possessed unique skills were strong.
That was true.
But that strength only existed when measured against the humans of this world. The moment the comparison shifted-to Shion, Gobta, and the others-the difference became obvious at a glance.
After all, Shion and Gobta were not ordinary monsters.
They were monsters personally named by Rimuru. Monsters trained by Emiya Shirou.
That alone placed them far beyond the standard.
Both of them possessed strength at A-rank or above. A level that ordinary monsters could not even approach. The gap was not subtle. It did not need explanation.
It was visible the moment they moved.
Shogo, as an Otherworlder, held the unique skill Berserker.
That skill greatly enhanced his physical abilities, forcibly pushing his body beyond normal limits. Strength. Speed. Endurance. All of it was boosted to a level ordinary people could never reach.
It was said that when Shogo had first been summoned into this world, he slaughtered the thirty mages responsible for calling him.
Because of that, he had always believed in his own power.
Unconditionally.
Unfortunately, his opponent was Shion.
Shion also possessed overwhelming physical ability. And unlike Shogo, hers did not rely on a temporary skill boost.
Under the swing of her greatsword, Shogo was unable to gain even the slightest advantage.
Even now, the only reason he was still alive was because Shion was mindful of the surrounding spectators and had no intention of killing him outright.
Even so-
Under Shion's blade, Shogo brushed against death again and again.
"Ah! Damn it! Why are you monsters this strong?!"
"This makes no sense!"
Shogo roared continuously as he desperately blocked her attacks. Every impact rattled his arms. Every near miss sent cold sweat down his spine.
Each exchange brought him closer to the end.
"Shut up, scum," Shion said flatly. "Just die obediently."
She twisted the hilt.
The greatsword's trajectory shifted mid-swing.
Shogo failed to react.
The blade struck him directly, sending his body flying through the air like a discarded rag.
On the other side of the battlefield, the situation was no better.
Kyoya swung his sword relentlessly, his movements filled with killing intent. He wanted nothing more than to carve the Goblin standing before him into pieces.
But no matter how he attacked, the distance never closed.
Gobta kept him outside the range of his blade with calm precision. Every step Kyoya took was shut down. Every opening he thought he saw disappeared instantly.
He was being suppressed.
Completely.
And this was not accidental.
This was the result of Gobta's training.
An unbroken defense. No wasted movement. No gaps.
An approach refined through countless repetitions.
"You bastard!" Kyoya roared after another failed attempt. "Do you even know how to attack?!"
"You're just hiding behind defense! Like a turtle shell!"
Earlier confidence had long since vanished. In its place was raw frustration.
Gobta's mouth twitched when he heard that.
"Offense?"
The next moment-
After parrying Kyoya's sword yet again, Gobta's spear shot forward.
Instantly.
The thrust struck Kyoya in the waist and abdomen before he could even register the movement.
Then, with a sharp flick of the shaft, Gobta sent him flying backward.
"That's my offense," Gobta said proudly.
During his training with Emiya Shirou, Gobta had focused heavily on fundamentals. Physical conditioning. Repetition. Discipline.
His spearmanship, in particular, had been honed for defensive combat.
Considering Gobta's personality and instincts, Emiya Shirou had eventually adjusted his training path. Rather than forcing versatility, he made Gobta specialize.
One thrust.
A single, perfect thrust.
That thrust was then integrated directly into his defense.
With Gobta's natural talent and relentless practice, and under Emiya Shirou's requirement of ten thousand perfect thrusts every single day, that technique had become terrifying.
So terrifying that even Hakurou would struggle to react in time.
Even when the technique was known.
Even when one was prepared.
Because no one could tell when a defensive motion would suddenly become a killing strike aimed at a vital point.
Like a venomous viper hiding beneath a turtle's shell.
This was the spearmanship Emiya Shirou had named for Gobta.
Mystic Turtle Spearmanship.
"Ahhh!"
Kyoya screamed as he clutched the wound at his waist and abdomen. Pain exploded through his body. He had never suffered an injury like this before.
"Stop screaming," Gobta scoffed. "What kind of injury is that?"
"If you weren't an Otherworlder, that spear would've already gone through your head."
Compared to his daily training, this was nothing.
Nearby, Kirara Mizutani had already collapsed to the ground.
She stared at the scene in front of her, her expression blank.
"How... could this happen...?"
This was supposed to be an easy mission.
The enemy's leader was a slime.
A slime.
How strong could a slime be?
And if the leader was that weak, how strong could his subordinates possibly be?
That was what they had believed.
That belief had given them confidence.
Now, faced with their current state, Kirara found it difficult to even accept reality.
Why were they this strong?
Why was the gap so absolute?
Her gaze trembled as she looked around.
"Why aren't the Knights here yet...?"
"The commotion should be more than enough by now... right?"
At this point, the Knights stationed outside the city were her only remaining hope.
"Why haven't the Knights outside moved yet?"
Benimaru frowned, his impatience obvious. He had been waiting for the enemy to launch their attack so he could lead the troops into battle.
"Perhaps the required conditions haven't been met yet," someone replied.
"For example-"
Emiya Shirou's expression sharpened.
He immediately thought of Myulan.
Without hesitation, he sent a message directly to her.
Myulan. Activate the magic.
"Yes, Lord Emiya."
Beside her, Youm and Grucius were still engaged in combat. Myulan glanced at them briefly before dropping her act entirely.
Her form shifted.
She transformed into her demon form and began deploying the magic circle.
"Myulan!"
Youm and Grucius shouted in shock.
But they were too late.
They could only watch helplessly as she completed the activation.
From the very beginning, Myulan had remained with Youm and Grucius for one reason.
To deceive Clayman.
Clayman was monitoring her through her heart. If she acted too openly, he would immediately realize she had defected.
As Myulan performed her role, Clayman listened in.
And laughed.
To him, everything was proceeding exactly as planned.
"It's starting."
As Emiya Shirou spoke, the magic formation spread rapidly.
In an instant, it enveloped the entire City of Emiya.
At the same time, from all four directions of the city, pillars of light shot into the sky, forming an additional layer of barrier.
"This is...?"
Emiya Shirou felt it immediately.
The magicules within his body were being slowly purified.
His expression turned serious.
"Purifying magicules...?"
"This is an anti-monster barrier."
A specialized one.
He understood at once.
This was the enemy's trump card.
"Careless."
Emiya Shirou immediately turned to those around him.
"Benimaru. Status?"
Benimaru had looked dazed for a moment, but he quickly recovered.
"Reporting, Lord Emiya. Our strength is being heavily restricted. We likely can't unleash much power."
"I see."
Emiya Shirou thought briefly, then issued orders without hesitation.
"All warriors below B-rank, retreat immediately."
"Spread throughout the city and protect the citizens."
"Those above B-rank will follow Benimaru and confront the enemy Knights."
"Yes, Lord Emiya!"
The surrounding monsters moved at once. They dispersed in an orderly manner, heading toward their assigned areas.
The remaining elites regrouped.
They stood silently behind Emiya Shirou, watching his back as they awaited the next command.
Then-
Warmth flowed through their bodies.
The weakness they had felt moments earlier began to fade.
This was Emiya Shirou's countermeasure.
The effect of Monster Lord, a function of his skill Hero of Darkness.
Through continuous testing, Emiya Shirou had discovered something crucial.
He was extremely receptive to the loyalty and affection of monsters.
When he led them into battle, he could bestow a portion of his own abilities upon them.
And now, what he was granting them was his power to nullify magic effects below his own rank.
The effect on them was far weaker than on himself.
But it was enough.
Especially since the fewer individuals receiving the blessing, the stronger the effect became.
Emiya Shirou curled his lips slightly.
"Prepare for battle."
