Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: Will the World End?

Whoosh—

With both little devil Lu Mingze and Norton making moves, Odin's last two trump cards failed one after the other.

He could only watch as the blade of Futsu-no-Mitama drew near—dodging at close range was meaningless. The true danger wasn't the sword but the terrifying explosion it would cause.

This version of Futsu-no-Mitama, forged using advanced "concept armament" technology, was far more powerful than the one projected by Emiya. When used to detonate, its destructive power was leagues beyond the previous explosions.

This was Lu Mingze's trap. The sacred sword had always been meant for Emiya, not Joude Maiyi. The purpose of giving Maiyi ancient dragon serum was merely to allow her to assist on the battlefield.

Bang.

A familiar energy shield formed around Odin, deflecting the Futsu-no-Mitama, but the divine blade immediately began emitting terrifying heat and light.

Could it hold?

Odin asked himself honestly—and he knew the answer was no.

The explosion erupted with unimaginable intensity, transforming into a blinding pillar of light that pierced the heavens.

Ground and structures were vaporized as if they were nothing more than dust. Even the ash that escaped seemed meager in comparison.

Fortunately, Odin's massive thunder and the ice-fire domain of Kyuuin spread across the surroundings, slowing the shockwave's spread. Otherwise, there would've been no time for anyone else to escape.

BOOM!

The terrifying pillar pierced the black sky, vaporizing the relentless rain and altering atmospheric flow. No one knew how long it lasted before finally fading. Ash spread across the sky, forming a massive mushroom cloud.

Lu Mingze stood atop a distant rooftop, watching the scene. His sharp eyes caught a tiny comet streaking upward.

"Did he escape again? Barely."

Odin, of course, wasn't so easy to kill.

After realizing he couldn't escape fast enough, Odin focused on defense. He summoned defensive Kotodama, stacked with alchemical armor to form multiple layers of protection. That was the only way to avoid being vaporized.

Then, in his heavily injured state, Odin used wind elements to lift himself into the air. He couldn't manipulate space, but he could still fly. And Emiya couldn't.

A smart move. Too bad...

"What about the second sword?"

Lu Mingze grinned maliciously. He hadn't just given Maiyi Futsu-no-Mitama—there was also Ame-no-Habakiri.

Trying to flee? Not happening. Die, and leave nothing behind.

Sure enough, Emiya, a master archer, had already seen through Odin's desperate ploy.

Moments later, a second explosion lit up the sky.

A blazing sphere of light burned away the damp night, like a miniature sun rising in the darkness.

The battlefield stood still, many witnesses gazing at the dazzling spectacle. The entire industrial zone watched as the sun-like blast dispelled the gloom.

The "sun" burned for several long seconds before fading.

Lu Mingze didn't stay to watch. He turned and vanished from the rooftop.

"No dragon bones left behind... worthy of an old rival. Must've prepared a revival 'cocoon' in advance."

"Still, this time's plan failed, Bondarev."

Shing.

Black limbs scattered as cold light flashed.

Joude Maiyi drew her alchemical tachi and slew a dead servant that lunged at her. The two divine swords the boss gave her had already been passed to Emiya, so she could only rely on her backup weapon now.

These things lost their will to fight after Odin's death. The "Heroic Spirit Army"'s aura vanished, and the monsters became nothing more than sluggish wandering ghosts. They were easy prey now.

Behind her, Wazhu and Zero protected Emiya as they retreated.

Zero carried the broken Ryudantai and a massive sword case that towered over her.

Wazhu looked like she was carrying a tall travel bag, with Emiya lying on her back. She had originally planned to princess-carry him for a quick evac, but he refused, his pride stung.

Letting a little girl carry him like a bride, running through the battlefield while noble families looked on in awe? No thanks. Just imagining it made him cringe.

Resting on Wazhu's back, Emiya felt her long hair brush against his cheek, the rain-kissed air giving his skin a faint glow.

Wazhu stared straight ahead, not blinking, clutching his arms tightly at her chest. Even while managing the entire battle, she hadn't stopped worrying about him.

"You came here yourself. What about the noble houses?"

Emiya's voice brushed her ear like a breeze, making her flustered.

"Mm... I had Zhou Yuxuan take over command. It hasn't been long, so they wouldn't dare try anything. No matter what, you matter more…"

She coughed twice, correcting herself.

"I mean, taking out the biggest threat matters more."

"Taken out, huh..."

Emiya's tone was ambiguous.

He thought of Odin and his cruel ideology. Those necromantic experiments were horrifying, yet standard fare for magi.

Was Odin really gone?

Just like how in FGO, even if David killed the Director before the incineration of humanity, it didn't stop what came next.

It didn't. The bleaching of human history still occurred. The director had prepared too thoroughly. Chaldea danced in the hands of the Outer Gods and was eventually rejected by history itself.

So would this timeline, too, meet its sudden end due to some hidden plot?

"Tch..."

Pain and exhaustion cut off his thoughts.

His magic circuits had been overloaded, recklessly pushed to their limits. The aftermath was excruciating. Even thinking about activating them brought agony.

And yet... something was off.

His circuits now generated mana more efficiently. He'd always teased Old Tang for having inhuman circuits, but now his own had mutated.

What the hell had he done?

Speaking of Old Tang, where was he?

A pile of collapsed buildings lay in the distance. Some noble members had formed a rescue team, digging out unlucky souls buried in the rubble.

If they found monsters, they cut them down immediately.

Old Tang was miraculously dug out. Soaked and caked in mud, he looked like he'd fallen into a swamp. His head sported a massive bump—he must've been knocked out by falling debris.

His expression was calm, like he was having a sweet dream.
