After Megatron's group had been taken care of and his body had been secured, Aidan Parker, who was pretending to be the brilliant but reclusive Snow Jacob, officially moved his main research operations from the main KSI campus to the newly built black cube containment facility on the outskirts of Los Angeles.
He stood in front of the huge water tank, and the low hum of the filtration system was a constant, deep thrum in the huge room. Inside, the huge, quiet body of the captured Decepticon leader floated, his eyes dark and his chains as thick as pillars.
"Mr. Megatron," Aidan said in a calm, clear voice that echoed a little in the big room. "Can we talk?"
The titan didn't move at all; he didn't even open his eyes.
"Your civilization has evolved for billions of years," Aidan said next, sounding like a philosopher doing a thought experiment. "You reached for the stars while my kind was still living in caves." Even though you were powerful and had the best technology, you fell into a primitive civil war over resources and factionalism. This long, pointless war has turned your planet into a dead, empty shell. "Have you ever thought about what caused this failure in yourselves?"
This time, Megatron's glowing, evil red eyes slowly opened and focused on the tiny human standing in front of his glass prison. A deep, metallic voice that sounded old and full of hate echoed through the water. "And you people are different?"
"Yes," Aidan said, nodding without a word of protest. "But our journey is still long. We are still growing and trying to solve these same problems, no matter how small or pathetic our progress may seem. We have a chance because you came to our world. A chance to learn from what you've done wrong. I have a way for our two planets and species to live together. And I need your help for it to work.
"That's a bad joke, fleshy creature!" The voice of Megatron echoed. His eyes shut again.
Aidan smiled a little. "I know a lot more, too. I know that the real creator of your Decepticons, the one you call The Fallen, got out of his stone coffin on a faraway world a long time ago. I know he is probably still watching this planet. I know that your chief communications officer, Soundwave, is right now on one of our satellites trying to find you.
Boom! When Megatron slammed into the glass, the water in the tank surged violently, and his eyes burned with a furious, shocked light. "I don't remember Optimus Prime knowing that!" How could you possibly know these things? He pushed his huge face against the thick glass and glared at the little human with a look that could melt steel.
Aidan said calmly, "I know a lot of things," and he didn't seem to be bothered by the anger. "For now, all you have to do is answer one question: will you work with us?"
"Who are you?" Megatron yelled, his voice a deep, metallic roar that shook the whole building.
"It seems you don't want to," Aidan said with a hint of real regret. "That's too bad." Then he turned his back on the angry, trapped god and walked toward the door.
"Get back here!" "Tell me what you know, person!" From inside the tank, Megatron roared.
But Aidan didn't seem to hear him and just let the heavy containment door close behind him. This left the Decepticon leader alone in the green, swirling water with his anger and confusion.
"Is there trouble already?" "Are you okay?" Birel Sheila asked as she leaned against the doorframe of his office. She was wearing her usual sexy but professional clothes, as always.
"Yes," Aidan said with a sigh and a tilt of his head. "I was hoping to deal with it in a calm, philosophical way. But it looks like I need to be a little more... forceful. He gave her a data slate. "Here is the list. Please get these things for me as soon as you can.
Birel had been working with "Snow Jacob" for two years now, and her power within KSI had grown a lot. She didn't have to ask for permission to buy most of the equipment and materials anymore. She looked at the list—high-frequency neuro-circuits, a thermal conductive gel, and military-grade shielded cabling—and raised an eyebrow.
"Not a problem," she said. "These are not too hard to get, but since a lot of them are military-grade materials that aren't available to the public, you'll need to do some... creative accounting to get them." She leaned over his desk, and her dark red hair brushed his shoulder. She kissed him on the cheek quickly and in a way that was familiar to him. "I'll take care of it." She then left, her heels making a loud noise on the polished floor.
Aidan was used to these kinds of displays, so he quickly went to a holographic design table. He started drawing, and before long, a complicated blueprint appeared in the air in front of him. It showed a huge plug with a cable bundle made up of thousands of tightly packed wires. But the end of the plug looked like a big, sharp needle. If it were smaller, it would look like a sewing tool for weaving thread into a tapestry.
As the new materials came in over the next week, the lab was anything but quiet. Megatron, stuck in his tank, kept yelling threats and insults at Aidan, trying to get more information out of him.
"Man! How do you know my master? His birth happened billions of years before your tiny species!
"Can you hear me? "Answer me, you stupid human!"
"You don't pay attention to me? Just like I thought! "You people are nothing but rude, filthy vermin..."
Aidan thought, "Good grief," as he put down a spot-welding handle and stared at Megatron through the tank's glass. This guy talks more than Peter does.
"Stupid human! Tell me everything you know! If I ever get out of this prison, you will be the first to go.
Aidan had had enough. He thought for a second and then picked up a heavy-duty plasma cutter. He put on his scuba gear, stepped onto an elevator platform, and went up to the top of the water tank. He opened a pre-cut service hatch and jumped into the tank, with the plasma cutter buzzing to life in his hand.
"What are you up to?!" Megatron's voice had a new, strange edge to it as he looked at the human with the blue-glowing chainsaw-like tool.
Aidan smiled at Megatron through his helmet and said, "You're too noisy," before cutting down toward his chest.
"Dirty person! "Get out of here right now!" The plasma blade cutting into his chest was too much for him to handle, but the thick Adamantium chains kept him from breaking free. He could only thrash around violently in the water tank, making a whirlpool. "Hey, human! "You will suffer unimaginable pain when I get out," he kept cursing.
Aidan had a good grasp of Decepticon anatomy after cutting up a lot of their bodies over the past two years. He quickly found the complicated network of conduits and resonators that made up Megatron's vocal system after cutting open his chest plate. Then, with a shower of underwater sparks, he surgically destroyed it.
As soon as Megatron started swearing, he stopped talking and his eyes started to flicker as he went into standby mode. Aidan smiled with satisfaction as he watched the Decepticon go silent. He waved goodbye to the tyrant who was no longer active and then turned to leave. He put down the plasma cutter and looked back at Megatron, who was wide-eyed and helpless, as he came out of the tank.
"Finally," he said with a sigh. "Some peace and quiet." He took off his wet clothes and went back to changing his experimental setup.
Megatron got even more angry when he couldn't talk anymore. His body shook violently in the tank, but the calm, focused young man outside didn't notice.
Aidan worked on the lab for the next week. The most obvious new thing was a bunch of cables, each as thick as a pillar, that connected to a huge supercomputer on one end and ended in sharp, silver, cylindrical needles on the other. To a person, the needles looked too big, but to a robot like Megatron, they were no thicker than regular data cables. Megatron felt a deep sense of dread when he saw the cables and the cold, shiny needles that now filled the lab.
After doing some last-minute math, Aidan picked up one of the huge needles, got on the elevator, and jumped back into the water tank. He walked up to the middle of the robot's chest while Megatron looked on in a bit of a panic. The needle went right through Megatron's chest armor with a soft hiss and a sharp thunk, going deep into his spark chamber.
Aidan did this several times. The needles quickly filled Megatron's head and chest. The thick cables that came out of them looked like a tangled, high-tech crown of thorns on his head.
